Cyanogen-powered Micromax Yu device launches this December 18 in India
Micromax is ready to take India by storm, the company has sent press invites for the unveiling of its Yu brand on December 18, 2014. Announced last month, the Indian device manufacturer will be launching a new line of devices powered exclusively by Cyanogen ROM under the Yu line of devices this December, indeed the event is going to take place as expected. The invite however doesn’t show any details on what we’re getting with the new Yu device but Rahul Sharma the co-founder of Micromax has shed some light on what to expect for the very first Yu device, Sharma describes “the phone is going to be a monster” and comes with “really cool specs” which gave us an idea that the mysterious handset is going to be highly spec device with high-end features to compliment the OS driving the handset.
As stated earlier, Micromax Yu will only be available through online stores which took the same route as other successful Chinese brands. We expect to find out next week on which Indian online retail stores will have the Yu devices available. Micromax is said to have arranged their partnership with different companies in the field to distribute its devices to customers.
The Micromax Yu devices will run exclusively on Cyanogen software which made headlines for the past weeks after Cynogen signed an exclusive rights with Micromax while having commitments with Chinese company OnePlus with their One device which will also become available in India this month. Nevertheless Micromax and Cyanogen is in full preparation for the event and Micromax has fully exercise its rights to use Cyanogen software under their signed agreement.
We’ll be watching the Micromax Yu launch event on Thursday next week and hope Micromax will also have their new Yu device available to other regions, maybe in the next few months.
