DOH released COVID-19 CASE BULLETIN #59 at 16:00H (4:00PM PST) on May 12, 2020.
As of today, the Department of Health reports a total of 11,350 COVID-19 cases in the Philippines after 264 new cases where added. The highest number of positive cases were reported from the NCR with 165 cases and 74 cases coming from Region 7, the rest of the cases reports are from other regions in the Philippines with 25 cases.
From the same report, there were 25 new deaths recorded raising the country’s death toll to 751.
As with recoveries, the Philippines now has 2,106 confirmed and recorded recoveries by the DOH with 107 new recoveries reported today.

COVID-19 was declared by World Health Organization (WHO) as a Pandemic on March 03, 2020 which started in Wuhan, China. The disease is caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome – coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV2) with a Flu like symptoms such as Fever, Cough, Colds and in more severe cases Difficulty in Breathing.
There are no vaccines or direct cure for the disease at the moment and the only way to protect ourselves from getting infected is to practise proper and frequent handwashing, avoid touching our face, mouth, nose and eyes. Our health experts as well as the government urged everyone to wear a suitable and effective face mask as much as possible and when outside of our homes.
