Cherry Mobile updates selected devices to Lollipop as a year ender

We are now on another year with exciting announcements coming to our way but before 2015 ended, Cherry Mobile fulfilled its promise to update their device line-up. With Android Lollipop, Cherry Mobile continuously gives a new breath of life for their existing handsets including a few from their Flare line-up, though not all is covered with the new roll out, Cherry Mobile is working its way to finally send updates to the remaining number of devices this year.

Cherry Mobile already announced the update roadmap during the fourth quarter of 2015 and it covers most of the Flare series including Flare S3 Octa, Flare S3 Power, Flare S3 Lite and Flare X. While the Flare S3, Flare S3 Lite and the Touch XL now have their OTA updates available, the company is still in the process of bring the Lollipop update to Flare S3 Mini, Flare S3 Octa and Flare S3 Power for this year, though Cherry Mobile doesn’t specifically announced the exact update roll out dates for the latter devices, we’re expecting them to become available on the first quarter of the year.

Additionally, The Flare X is now ready to be updated to Android Lollipop but the catch is that it’s currently available as an SD card update with the official OTA update to become available soon. Cherry Mobile didn’t elaborate on the process of updating the Flare X with the SD card update but what we have in mind is that the Lollipop ROM for the Flare X can be manually downloaded from the server and have them copied on an SD card and update the handset through Recovery Mode and flash the newly downloaded ROM to the handset.
