Caterpillar or CAT for short has been widely popular with heavy-duty equipment and while they enjoyed the spot in the industry, the company is also taking the same building principles in the mobile market. It has released a number of notable devices designed for the harsh environments that pairs well enough for people working in construction sites or for people going for outdoor adventures.

But today, the company isn’t just focussing on tough and sturdy builds, they are also releasing the new CAT S60 and what’s special about the new handset you may ask, the CAT S60 is just the first of its kind handset equipped with a real-deal thermal camera in it.It uses FLIR Lepton module and can show a 80 x 60px thermal video and measures the temperature of objects from 15 – 30 meters away and even through smoke.

Having a unique camera module and a tough outer shell, the S60 is something one can safely use in any environmental conditions. Added to that, it is also a waterproof device and can go underwater up to 2 meters or pushed them to 5 meters with the handset’s mouth and earpieces closed with its yellow covers.

The CAT S60 comes with 4.7-inch 720p touchscreen display with a 1 mm thick Gorilla Glass 4 protective layer ensuring an all protection throughout the handset’s life. It also features a very bright display with 540 nits and its touchscreen panel works well even with gloves on.

Under the rugged shell is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 chipset and is supported by 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage space. For normal and daily use, the handset uses the standard 13 Megapixel main camera and a 5 Megapixel Selfie camera on the front.
