If you’re eyeing those smartwatches announced during the Google I/O event but a bit concerned with your budget then worry no more as Asus is reportedly preparing to launch a smartwatch powered by Google’s latest Android Wear platform. The Taiwanese firm previously mentioned that the company will venture into the wearable market prior to the announcement of Android Wear. The smartwatch was scheduled to debut around September this year and will be the company’s first device in the wearable market and will feature a AMOLED display. However recently, according to sources closed to the company which leaked out information that Asus is indeed preparing a smartwatch but this time it will sport the new Android Wear platform .

According to Techcrunch, Asus will introduce a smartwatch device that is more affordable than the ones offered by either LG or Samsung and even the rounded Moto 360 from Motorola. Asus decision to come out later with a device is that they don’t want to rush in their efforts just for the sake of delivering an unfinished device to customers.

If Asus sticks to their previous statement then will be expecting to see a cheaper alternative for the holidays than those showcased during the Google I/O event.
