Asus long-standing Zenfone series have seen the rise and fall of smartphone sales in the market, yet unlike all other brands, the Zenfone series refuses to give up and the latest is something that is considered as the techiest in the series: the new Asus Zenfone 7.

The new series debuts with two variants with slight differences from both in terms of hardware and performance but when it comes to their design, there’s really no telling which is which at a glance.

The main highlights on the new Zenfone 7 is the camera. It has carried the same formula that Asus used with the Zenfone 6 series. Having said that, the Zenfone 7 is equipped with the same flip up camera module in which the imaging sensors serves both as the main camera and a Selfie shooter.

The camera module comes with a 64 Megapixel Sony IMX686 sensor with a 2×1 OCL Autofocus and can record 8k videos in 30fps or a slow-mo 4k video at 120fps. There’s also a 12 Megapixel Sony IMX363 sensor with a Ultra Wide angle lens and has a Dual AF feature. The Ultra Wide sensor can record 4K videos using the Hypersteady Video mode. This sensor can also work as a macro shooter which can focus object as a distance of 4mm.

Lastly, there’s the Telephoto camera with an 80mm lens giving users 3x optical zoom and features Optical Image Stabilization.

The display also gets a revamps from last year which now comes equipped with a Samsung-made AMOLED panel at 6.67-inch and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6. The display comes with a 1080p resolution screen with a 9Hz refresh rate and 200Hz touch sampling rate.

It also features 1,000nits of brightness so you can be sure to play just fine under the sun and 110% DCI-P3 coverage with accurate color calibration for a vibrate true-to-life image.

Another cool new addition to the Zenfone 7 is the 30W fast charging support with an advance charging control borrowed from the Asus ROG 3 for better battery management and optimization for its 5,000mAh embedded battery.

The new Asus Zenfone 7 as we said before is available in two variants, one that is the vanilla Zenfone 7 and the Zenfone 7 Pro. The Zenfone 7 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset while the “Pro” is equipped with Snapdragon 865+. Both comes with 8GB of RAM with the Zenfone 7 gives an option for a 6GB model.

Storage-wise, the Zenfone 7 has a 128GB of storage while the Zenfone 7 Pro comes with 256GB. Both of these variants supports microSD cards for storage expansion.

The new Zenfone 7 series ships with a dedicated Asus Active Case which helps protects the back of the device and ultimately the flip-up camera as it includes a latch which locks the camera module in place. The device detects the lock is there and will only flip the camera module up when the latch is unlock. Pretty nifty little feature and practical.

Asus Zenfone 7 will be available globally on September 1st with the Zenfone 7 6GB/128GB variants starts at about $750 while the Zenfone 7 Pro retails at $950.
