Apple’s new M1 can be compared to a mobile chipset but with power and performance of a PC or a Mac. For portable devices from Apple, that simply translate to a mobile device that’s more convenient for users who are always on the go and this perfectly fits the new MacBook Air.
Having the new Apple M1 on the new MacBook Air is not a surprise as it is one of the most popular series of the 13-inch MacBooks.
For the display, the 13.3-inch Retina display comes with a 2560×1600 resolution screen and a widen color support with the inclusion of P3 color space, 400nits of brightness with True Tone Technology.
The design for the new MacBook Air basically stays the same but given a new processor reside inside, the new device turns fanless and silent, something that we’ve waited to come for such mobile devices.
The new M1 chip brings performance boosts to the new MacBook Air with Apple claiming up to 3.5x the CPU performance and 5x faster graphics compared to its predecessor. In addition to that, the new SSD’s installed on the new MacBook Air is said to be twice fast as well.
Another big improvements the new M1 does to the new MacBook Air is better battery life which could go as high as 15 hours for web browsing over Wi-Fi and up to 18 hours of video playback.
The new MacBook Air comes in Gold, Silver and Space Grey color options and is now available for pre-order for US$999 with the new M1 chip with 8-core CPU and 7-core GPU with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. For twice the amount of storage and additional 1 GPU core adds $250. There’s also a special price for students with $100 less.
