Apple formally unveils the all new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

It inevitable and here it is, the new Apple iPhone 6 with 4.7-inch display and the iPhone 6 Plus with a larger 5.5-inch display. Without too much introduction, Apple CEO Tim Cook Jump start the event with the introduction of the new generation iPhone 6 which the CEO calls it as “he biggest advancement in the history of iPhone”.

Both iPhone 6 devices features the next generation Retina display. For the iPhone 6, it comes with a 4.7-inch 720p HD display with 1334×750 resolutions while the iPhone 6 Plus is equipped with a larger 5.5-inch display with a full-HD 1080p resolution and 401 ppi pixel density.



The new iPhone 6 has been redesigned with a design cue from the iPod Touch design with a slim profile and lighter footprint. It’s like a dream come true to see the iPhone 6 being reshape. Users and critics alike found the new adopted design a welcome improvement to the old brick design that graced the iPhone for years.

Both phones are considerably thinner from its predecessors measuring at 6.9 mm on the iPhone 6 and 7.1 mm on the iPhone 6 Plus.

The new generation iPhone 6 is also bigger considering the new bigger displays, but that doesn’t mean it has gone any better. But to iPhone 6 plus is a significant upgrade from any existing iPhone devices, not just because it features a larger body and the obvious phablet display but it’s because the iPhone has finally supported full-HD resolution which should make images and videos more crisp and sharp on the Retina display.

Considering the larger displays that the iPhone 6 now offers, Apple has built a compatibility mode for apps design for the late generation iPhone devices to work seamless with the new iPhone 6’s larger display. Apple also introduce a one-handed operation mode to work things out much easier despite the large working area of the handsets.



With the new iPhone 6, Apple includes the most advance technology that Cupertino has been perfecting for years. Equipped with Apple’s latest A8 Chip, both iPhone variants includes the new 20nm Dual-core 64bit processor at its core. The new A8 chipset is said to be 25% smaller than the A7 yet it delivers an improved processing speed of 17%, together with 1 GB of RAM and a PowerVR hexacore graphics, the iPhone 6 is more than capable when handling 3D game environments and other graphic intensive applications.

The new iPhone 6 is also equipped with a larger battery that’s equal or better than the current iPhone 5S according to Apple. With improved battery life, users can enjoy doing more with their devices.

With the second generation M8 motion co-processor, the iPhone 6 comes with improved sensors and with the new Barometer sensor, the iPhone 6 is able to determine elevation and distance in addition to steps.

As communication is something important as the device itself, the new generation iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus comes embedded with faster LTE, Voice over LTE capability and Wi-Fi calling which can transition between cellular and Wi-Fi seamlessly.



As a multimedia media powerhouse, the new iPhone 6 comes with software design to cater every multimedia needs. One component that received significant improvements over the last iterations of the handset is the built-in camera, With iPhone 6, the camera features the same 8 Megapixel iSight camera but as Phil Schiller of Apple pointed-out, the camera embedded in the new iPhone now focus much faster with a new true tone flash, a f/2/2 aperture and enhanced macro and landscape shooting modes.

The iPhone 6 will feature a Digital Image Stabilization while the iPhone 6 Plus with will feature iPhone’s first Optical Image Stabilization.

In addition to standard connectivity options, Apple introduces NFC technology with the new iPhone 6 along with Apple’s TouchID and Passbook technology, this ensures seamless payment transactions and additional security features.


// Availability + Price

The iPhone 6 will be available starting on September 19 with Pre-orders to start tomorrow Friday. The 16GB variant is priced at $199, 64GB at $299 and the 128GB variant at $399 on contract. As for the iPhone 6 Plus, the pricing will simply add another $100 to the iPhone 6 different storage variants. Also, as the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus enters the market, the existing iPhone 5S will now be available in $99 on contract while the iPhone 5C will be free.
