Alcatel officially announced the new Idol 4 and Idol 4S devices with a special VR package

The wait is over and the highly anticipated and probably Alcatel’s most beautiful handset to date is finally official as the company unveils the new Idol 4 and the Idol 4S. With its fourth iteration in the series, Alcatel for the first time since it introduced the Idol line managed to drop the Onetouch moniker and instead chose to use the “Idol” brand name directly. Besides the change in naming convention, Alcatel also introduced its new logo design in which it refines the brand name and defines its focus in the market.

The Idol 4 and Idol 4S is undoubtedly the company’s new generation flagship device and is really a step-up since it introduced the series in the market. At its continued development, the new Idol 4 carries its signature reversible design where the device can be operated in both vertical orientations, horizontal orientations and even if the handset is turned around, the stereo orientation stays correct.

Alcatel Idol 4

The Idol 4 is obviously the base model from the two and it’s smaller but that doesn’t mean it’s far less better than the bigger Idol 4S and its capabilities is fairly on the same range from the two variants.

With a more premium status in mind, Alcatel is also making an even better Idol 4 device in an Idol 4S package. The Idol 4S is also a bigger build with a dimension of 153.9 x 75.4 x 6.99 mm which also packs a larger 5.5-inch display and a far more better QHD display at 1440 x 2560 resolutions. Under the hood is also an even more powerful processor provided by the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor, 3 GB of RAM and a more hefty 32 GB of internal storage and a microSD slot for storage expansion.

Its main camera comes with a better spec’d sensor with 16 Megapixel unit and is complemented by 8 Megapixel shooter on the front, also both cameras are equipped with its own LED flash for assist in low light conditions. keeping the handset at its top shape in the more be efy 3000 mAh battery that should give more operating time compared to the base model Idol 4.

Unlike all other flagship devices from other competing brands, the new Idol 4 and the Idol 4S is obviously a mid-ranger device and Alcatel is logically marketing these devices to be more affordable from every user and customer. However, that does not hinder Alcatel to make its flagship mid-range device from equipping the handset with notable features and hardware enhancements.

One of the best features that Alcatel is stressing out with the new Idol 4 devices is its built-in 3.6 Watt stereo speakers. With front firing speakers, Alcatel is bringing a superb sound experience thanks to its partners JBL and Waves. Apart from its improved loudspeakers,both devices also comes with Hi-Fi surround sound for the headset with an optimized automatic and manual audio presets. To finish off its impressive audio experience, it comes equipped with noise cancelling mics for a far more better audio recording and clears voice call quality.

These new devices comes with a fast Cat.6 4G/LTE radio, 3G/HSPA+ and 2G/GSM support. Other connectivity options comes standard. Another features that Alcatel is proud to present is its new physical button dubbed the BoomKey, It’s like a do it all key that has a multitude of functions that works well with Android 6.0 Marshmallow that it comes native with. There’s the new “Boom my Music” – which when activated automatically optimized your audio experience no matter what is playing, “Boom my Camera” – takes you directly to the camera app to take some snaps instantly even with your Idol 4 device on standby,”Boom my Videos” – enables users to add special effects on your videos and”Boom my Game” – which activates specially defined functions in games apps. One more thing is that is also features”Boom my view” option which optimizes the 3D parallax effect from the launcher.

Now that we have a seemingly clearer picture of the handsets, The last thing and this is one of the unique features that designers had brought out in every Idol 4 package is that its box can be transformed into a special 3D glass with a close resemblance with Google’s 3D cardboard-style headset which will bring a whole new basic VR experience.
