Alcatel announces the new Onetouch Flash 2 imaging-centric device for the Asian markets

Alcatel announced a new mid-ranger for the asian market. The Alcatel Onetouch Flash 2 features a specs line-up that isn’t entirely as mid-ranger as it claims. Designed to be a bit more minimalistic yet offers a plethora of built-in features to get the sense of artistry within you.



For the luxury and comfort the Alcatel Onetouch Flash 2 here is telling you that premium quality doesn’t have to be expensive, the handset is uniquely designed for a one-handed operation and to sit comfortably in your hands. Its curved back ensures you a better hold unto the device without slipping from your grasp and the contoured sides are able to give you the soft edges of the handset. The front is pretty basic and is complimented by beautifully designed three capacitive buttons below the screen. There’s a one-sided hardware controls for your device which service the power button, your volume rocker and a third camera dedicated button for instantly firing up your camera.

Primarily designed for mobile photography enthusiasts, the Alcatel Onetouch is equipped with features that will fulfill your every mobile photography needs. The main gSight camera as Alcatel calls it features an outstanding 13 Megapixel Samsung ISOCELL sensor and comes with a Phase Detection AutoFocus which enables the module to take aim on your subject in just 0.3 second at most. It has a f/2.0 aperture that helps the sensor to capture more light and gives a lesser noise compared to other smartphones in the market.

Capturing every details as you see them, the Flash 2 is built with a 2-tone LED flash with one an amber and the other is White that balances the skin tone and white balance giving a naturally captured photos. It also features a 5-element lens with Blue Glass Optical filter that filters light that enters into the sensor to give better images and high quality photos.

Also for the new Onetouch Flash 2, Alcatel has included a separate dedicated camera button for fast launching your camera app and a better way to control and take your photographs. The dedicated button is also a far easier approach when taking a picture or video with your Onetouch Flash 2 instead of having all your controls on your screen, while the onscreen controls is still you major console on your camera app, it is also handy to start your camera from a single button and quickly capture those impromptu moments with ease.

You’ll be delighted to know that the new Onetouch Flash 2 from Alcatel is equipped with a 5 Megapixel Auto Focus Profie Cam with a larger ¼-inch OV5648 sensor and ƒ/2.2 aperture for better looking Selfies. It has an 84 degree wide-angle lens to capture most of the views from your Selfie and ensures every is fitted right into the scene. Selfies are even enhance and more pronounced even in low light situation with the built-in front LED flash.



With premium quality build comes quality hardware the Onetouch Flash 2 succeed in this area. Coming in with a 5-inch HD display, the handset sport a display resolution of 1280 x 720p on a 5-point multitouch IPS LCD panel. It has a 178-degree viewing angle and comes with a MiraVision Image Technology. It boasts a 64-bit MediaTek chipset with Octa-core configuration running at 1.3 GHz and includes a Mali-T720 MP3 Graphics processor built-in. It has a 2 GB of RAM and a standard 16 GB of internal storage space while its microSD card slot supports up to 128 GB of microSD cards for storage expansion.

Connectivity wise, the handset has two SIM slots were both supports 4G/LTE as well as 3G/HSPA+ and 2G/GSM for wireless connection. Other connectivity features comes as standard and includes Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and microUSB 2.0. Though not in the list, we also suspect that it include a GPS receiver as most devices like this pretty comes with the said feature as well.

The handset runs on a hefty 3000 mAh Li-Ion rechargeable battery and is embedded into the device. It promises up to 25 hours of talk-time on 2G, with a 5 hour video playback and 30 hours of music. it has a theoretical 25 days of standby time on paper but we’re yet to see the actual standby time could last.



The Alcatel Onetouch Flash 2 runs on the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system and takes advantage on all the latest Android Material design which gives handset a good-looking interface. It also takes advantage on Android’s ART runtime engine for better performing apps with better UI and a lot faster response time. Combined with better hardware, Android 5.1 on the Flash 2 gives a virtually stutter and lag-free experience.



Alcatel is making the new Onetouch Flash 2 exclusively as an online product only and will have two color options in Volcanic Grey and Mica White color variants. In India, Flipkart will be handling the distribution and selling of the handset while in other Asian countries such as the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia and soon in Singapore will be available through the online store Lazada with local prices to be announced soon.
