Android 5.0 was so highly anticipated that it even disappointed the mobile space when at the hype of rumors and leaks Google settled for KitKat with Android 4.4 instead of the assumed Android 5 which was widely known by then as Key Lime Pie. It took Google another year to deliver the much awaited update and it then pop-out later in June of this year as Android 5.0 with the codename “L” and was available for developers. Just this October, when Google announced the new Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 devices, the Android L we’ve known for months was then given the official name as Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Now as the two new Nexus devices will start to become available next week which also comes pre-installed with the new OS. Google also confirmed in a note to developers and ask them to get their apps ready and upload any available updates for the public release of Android 5.0 Lollipop that will happen on November 3rd along with the launch of the new Nexus 6 handset and the new Nexus 9 tablet.
Android 5.0 Lollipop will come preloaded on both the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 and will also be available on Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 handsets and the tablets Nexus 7 and Nexus 10. Google Play edition devices will also get the new Lollipop upgrade much earlier that regular devices but that will still partially depend on their manufacturer.
