Google Nexus 6 goes official with 6-inch QHD display

Google has just announced the new Nexus 6 made by Motorola and like numerous rumors and leaks, the new Nexus 6 is indeed the Motorola Shamu which has made the rounds for months already. It features a large QHD display and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor and is running the Latest Android 5 Lollipop, that’s right Google has given the Android 5 L official name to Android 5 Lollipop.

For its specs, it comes with a large 6-inch QHD display with 2560 x 1440 resolutions which packs 493 ppi pixel density and is covered and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The device is powered by a Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 Krait 450 processor running at 2.56 GHz coupled with 3 GB of RAM, it also comes with Adreno 420 GPU to handle the most intensive graphics.

On the back is a 13 Megapixel camera sensor with dual LED processor which lined along the rim of the camera module and on the front is a standard 2 Megapixel camera that’s good enough for self-portrait shot which we call now as selfie and for high-resolution video calls. The Nexus 6 will come in two variants either in 32 GB or 64 GB storage and like its predecessor, the new Nexus 6 still doesn’t support any memory expansion so users will have to get contented with the built-in memory or turn to cloud-based storage if additional storage space is required.

For connectivity and communication, the Nexus 6 doesn’t missed any new technology in connectivity, from the standard HSPA+ wireless connectivity, the new handset also supports LTE for faster internet speeds. Other connectivity options includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and NFC.

One of the improvements from previous Nexus models is that Motorola includes dual front speakers in which if you look at the concept it is somewhat inspired from HTC One. nevertheless the new Nexus 6 sets a language of its own with its set of specs and unique user experience.

The battery is a large 3220 mAh battery and as always it’s non-removable. Despite the battery being built-in, Google has incorporate a fast charging capability which allows users to use the device for 6 hours under normal use from a 15 minute recharge. Google is also confident that the new Nexus 6 can go on for 24 hours without any problem before users need to plug-in the device for recharging.

Motorola will be accepting pre-orders for the new Nexus 6 starting on October 29 with shipments to start by November. For a SIM-free units, Google will also sell the 32 GB variant at Google Play Store for $649. For the European market however, though not confirmed as of late, the 32 GB and 64 GB variant will retail at 569 euros and 649 euros respectively.

Though the Motorola Nexus 6 is already here, Google will continue to sell the remaining Nexus 5 units with prices unchanged. Google as promised will also upgrade all compatible Nexus devices to the Android 5 Lollipop.
