Xiaomi’s new Mi CC9 Pro goes official with 108 Megapixel Penta-camera
Mobile Photography's got an upgrade

Teasing and rumors are over as Xiaomi finally unveiled the much awaited, highly anticipated smartphone from the company this quarter – the Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro with a whopping 108 Megapixel main camera sensor.

Going straight into the main attraction is the penta-camera setup on the back. The Mi CC9 Pro is the company’s second smartphone device to include a 108 Megapixel sensor (the first one being the Mi Mix Alpha). It uses Samsung’s ISOCELL Bright IMX sensor with an f/1.7 Aperture lens and is equipped with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).
There is also a premium edition of the handset that uses a f/1.7 8P lens making it the first smartphone in the world to work with such a lens.
Beside the main camera, The Mi CC9 Pro has four other cameras on the back with each designed to work with specific needs. There’s a Telephoto camera with a 5 Megapixel sensor (upscaled to 8 Megapixel) and comes with Hybrid Autofocus and OIS that provides a stable and quick 5x optical Zoom and up to 50X when digital zoom kicks in.

There’s also a 20 Megapixel sensor with an UltraWide angle lens that gives a 117-degree field of view and a tiny 2 Megapixel camera for Macro-shots with a close-to-subject focusing at 1.5cm distance. Then it has a dedicated 12 Megapixel portrait camera with 2x zoom. the way it zooms in gives a perspective of a 50mm focal length lens. Just so you know, the Mi CC9 Pro doesn’t just include a dual LED flash but two of them actually for better lighting.
Like the Mi CC9, the Pro version is also equipped with a 32 Megapixel Selfie sensor with an f/2.0 Aperture lens and sits on front by the display notch.
Besides the cameras…

The new handset comes with a 6.47-inch curved Super AMOLED display. It features a full-HD+ resolution with a notch on top. The way the display curves to the sides makes the handset feels even more premium plus it includes an in-display fingerprint sensor to top it all.

What powers the new Mi CC9 Pro is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G based on 8nm process. I know that it’s not what we’ve expected for such a device but the Mi CC9 series are designed to be on the soft side however, it doesn’t mean that it’s going to lag, For one, the SD 730G comes with a total of 8 cores, two of which are performance cores at 2.2GHz and 6 other power efficient cores.
It comes with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM with a 128GB and 256GB of storage respectively. One thing that’s missing out though is the lack of storage expansion.

While the cameras on new Mi CC9 Pro are astounding, the battery on the handset is also worth mentioning. At 9.7mm thick, Xiaomi was able to squeeze in a huge 5,260 mAh battery, something that you won’t see everyday on smartphone devices even in flagships. the huge battery supports 30W PD fast-charging and can top-up from zero to 58% in half an hour of at a hundred percent in about 65 minutes.
Out of the box, the new Mi CC9 Pro boots MIUI 11 based on Android 9 but, we could also expect to get Android 10 soon as Xiaomi is already working on the update.

The Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro is already available for pre-order today in Aurora Green, Glacier White, and Midnight Black color variants and in two configurations:
6GB/128GB = CNY2,799 ($400)
8GB/256GB = CNY3,099 ($440)
A premium variant with the 8P Lens and in 8GB/256GB configuration would retail at CNY3,499 ($500). Sale would begin at midnight on November 11 in China.
