Xiaomi 18 Pro Series Is Official: 8,500mAh Battery, Dual 200MP Cameras and More

Xiaomi has officially launched its new Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max in China, and if there’s one thing that stands out about this generation, it’s that Xiaomi isn’t exactly holding back.

The new flagships were unveiled on September 23 and come with some seriously beefy hardware, including up to an 8,500mAh battery, dual 200MP Leica cameras, 2nm Snapdragon chips and a secondary display on the back. Both phones also went on sale in China immediately after the launch.

The Xiaomi 18 Pro is the smaller of the two, featuring a 6.4-inch OLED display, while the Pro Max comes with a much larger 6.9-inch panel. Both support adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz and can reach up to 4,000 nits of peak brightness. Xiaomi has also pushed the bezels down to just 0.99mm, giving the phones an almost all-screen look.

One of the more unusual features is the rear display, which Xiaomi continues to include on its Pro models. The 18 Pro gets a 2.7-inch OLED screen, while the Pro Max gets a slightly larger 2.9-inch version. Besides showing notifications and other information, the rear screen can also act as a viewfinder for taking selfies using the main cameras.

And speaking of cameras, Xiaomi has gone big here too.

Both phones feature a 200MP Leica main camera, a 200MP Leica periscope telephoto and a 50MP ultrawide camera. The telephoto supports 3.2x optical zoom and can focus as close as 12cm, making it useful for both portraits and macro shots.

Under the hood, the 18 Pro gets Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, while the 18 Pro Max steps up to the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. Both are based on a 2nm process, putting Xiaomi’s latest flagships firmly into the next generation of Android smartphone hardware.

But honestly, the batteries may be the biggest story.

The Xiaomi 18 Pro packs a 7,000mAh battery, while the 18 Pro Max pushes that all the way to an enormous 8,500mAh. Both support 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Xiaomi also claims the batteries can retain at least 80% of their capacity after 2,000 charging cycles.

Now available in China, the Xiaomi 18 Pro comes in Peach, Blue, Black and White colors options with a price that starts at CNY 5,999, while the 18 Pro Max starts at CNY 6,999. The top-end 16GB/1TB models cost CNY 8,999 and CNY 9,999 respectively.

There’s also a rather eye-catching transparent red special edition with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, bringing the price up to CNY 9,999 for the Pro and CNY 10,999 for the Pro Max.

For Filipino Xiaomi fans, though, there’s still one big question: when are these phones coming to the Philippines, and how much will they cost here?

For now, the launch is confirmed for China. Xiaomi has indicated that the 18 Pro is headed for global markets, but international availability and Philippine pricing have not yet been fully established.

Either way, the Xiaomi 18 Pro series is shaping up to be one of Xiaomi’s most ambitious flagship launches yet. And that 8,500mAh battery alone is probably going to get plenty of attention.
