Meet the Honor Magic V5 – The Thinnest Foldable Yet!

Looking for a thin foldable phone? Look no further than the new Honor Magic V5. Recently unveiled in China, the Magic V5 is now the thinnest foldable device to date, measuring just 4.1mm when unfolded and 8.8mm when folded (specific to certain variants). It officially dethrones the Oppo Find N5, which held the title earlier in 2025, by just a micrometer.

The phone has a premium build while staying true to Honor’s familiar design language. At first glance, the new Magic V5 looks quite similar to the outgoing Magic V3. But take a closer look, and you’ll notice the flatter frame, which gives it a smoother feel and makes it easier to handle.

Once you hold the Magic V5, you’ll really feel the difference. Honor clearly put a lot of focus on build quality — from the titanium and carbon-fiber hinge reinforced with liquid metal, to the sleek, minimal camera bump. If you go for the Ivory White variant, you’ll especially notice how lightweight it is at just 217 grams. The other color options are only slightly heavier, coming in at 222 grams.

While the previous Magic V3 only had an IPX8 rating, the new Magic V5 steps things up with both IP68 and IP69 certifications — a major upgrade that now offers full water and dust protection. It’s a much-needed improvement for users who want durability without sacrificing style.

As a foldable device, the Magic V5 naturally comes with two stunning displays. The main screen is a 7.9-inch LTPO OLED panel with a 2352 x 2172 resolution, dynamic 120Hz refresh rate, and an ultra-bright peak brightness of 5,000 nits. On the outside, the cover display is a 6.45-inch OLED with a 2376 x 1060 resolution, and it matches the main display in both refresh rate and brightness.

Both screens also support HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and 4320Hz PWM dimming, making sure your content looks crisp and vibrant — whether you’re indoors or out in the sun. To top it off, the main display is protected by Honor’s Super Armored Inner Screen, while the cover screen gets an extra layer of durability with Honor’s Anti-scratch NanoCrystal Shield.

When it comes to imaging, Honor made sure the Magic V5 is packed with some of the best hardware available. You’re getting a 50MP main sensor with optical image stabilization and an f/1.6 wide-angle lens, a new 50MP ultrawide camera with an f/2.0 aperture, and a 64MP telephoto lens using a 70mm equivalent periscope setup with a 1/2.0-inch sensor and f/2.5 aperture, offering 3x optical zoom.

For selfies and video calls, you’ve got a 50MP front camera on each display, so you’re covered no matter how you’re using the phone. All camera sensors support 4K video recording, and low-light performance gets a solid boost thanks to AI algorithms built into MagicOS.

The Magic V5 runs on MagicOS 9.1, based on Android 15, and introduces Honor’s own AI assistant called YOYO. According to Honor, it helps users easily handle daily tasks through voice commands — things like creating presentations, writing code, searching the web, sharing files, booking a ride, accessing the live camera, screen sharing, and more.

Powering everything is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, built on a 3nm process. Honor says it delivers next-level performance and AI enhancements, making for smoother and smarter on-device experiences. The phone comes in three storage and RAM options: 12GB with 256GB, 16GB with 512GB, and 16GB with 1TB. It also supports a wide range of 5G bands, making it a true global flagship.

Powering all of these features is Honor’s tried-and-tested Silicon-Carbon battery pack. On the Magic V5, the battery is actually one of the biggest upgrades in the Magic V series. The top-tier 1TB model (exclusive to China) comes with a massive 6,100mAh capacity, while the global variants will get a still-impressive 5,820mAh. It supports 66W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, so whether you’re at home or on the go, you’ll be fully powered up in no time.

The Honor Magic V5 comes in a variety of colors, including the lightweight Ivory White, as well as Black, Dawn Gold, and Reddish Brown. It’s currently available for pre-order in China, with pricing starting at CNY 8,999 (about $1,255) for the 12GB + 256GB version. The 16GB + 512GB model is priced at CNY 9,999 ($1,400), and the top-end 1TB version will cost CNY 10,999 ($1,535). Honor has also confirmed that it plans to bring the Magic V5 to international markets later this year, so global fans won’t have to wait too long.
