Black Shark 2 goes official with pressure sensitive display
There’s something to gaming devices that’s really dedicated for “well” gaming. Xiaomi’s gaming arm Black Shark has unveiled their second generation device the new Black Shark 2 and it comes with a few new goodies to make your gaming experience more immersive.

It comes with a new large 6.39-inch Samsung AMOLED display optimized with only 43.5s screen latency, this should translate to smoother and more image responsiveness especially on gaming. It also features pressure sensitivity called Magic Press technology that can be programed or mapped as buttons which can be triggered depending on the amount of pressure applied to the screen.

There’s a lot of innovations included on the screen, one of which is its display brightness of 430nits, full DC dimming seems to resolve screen flickering issue, motion interpolation, HDR support and covers the DCI-P3 color space with ΔE < 1. These are just some of the goodies found on Black Shark 2’s display but unlike most flagship devices nowadays, Xiaomi’s new gaming devices prefers 1080p+ screen, it’s not bad actually for the bigger yet small display since lower resolution screens helps conserve the battery.

The new gaming device is powered by no other than the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 and is paired with either 6GB / 8GB or that whoppy 12GB of RAM. Storage space is at 12GB for the 6GB and 8GB variant while the top of the line with 12GB of RAM comes is equipped with 256GB of storage. There’s no option of memory expansion that and it’s not that surprising as the first generation doesn’t include that as well.
The new Black Shark 2 features what Xiaomi calls ” Ludicrous Mode”. This particular new feature together with its AI capabilities eases temperature throttling and made sure that everything works optimally from CPU, GPU and even its network connection status.

This is made possible with Black Shark 2’s Liquid Cool 3.0 inside the unit – a huge vapor chamber that promises to lower chipset temperature by 14°C. For temperature concerned gamers, there will be an available cooling case with built-in fan to further lower the handset’s temperature for 5°C.
To keep up a continuous gameplay, the new handset comes with a 4000 mAh embedded battery and supports a 27W fast charging capabilities thanks to Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0.

For imaging, the new handset also comes with an impressive set of imaging hardware. Right at the back is a dual-lens main camera with a 48MP Quad Bayer 0.8µm pixels sensor having a f/1.75 Aperture lens paired with a 12 MP Telephoto unit. For Selfies, it’s got a generous 20 MP camera with an f/2.0 Aperture.

Making every game as immersive as possible, the new Black Shark 2 comes with a dual front-firing stereo speakers which should deliver every sound and audio effects upfront keeping the action engaging and fun.
For total convenience, the fingerprint scanner on the new handset is placed under the display so users can access their device anytime and in any manner.

The new Black Shark 2 is now available in China with a price starting at
CNY 3,200 for its 6GB/128GB option. With the new handset, Black Shark also has the new GamePad 3.0 which turns the handset into a console like the Nintendo Switch and includes an HDMI port and a couple of buttons on both sides of the phone.
