As already expected today, Apple introduces the new and smaller iPhone SE. The iPhone that came before the iPhone 6 and later have stayed small enough for users to carry around with them and in so many ways have been the familiar face of the Apple iPhone. The iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6s though introduced Apple users to a larger and richer user experience many iPhone users finds a smaller device more appealing and handy Which then after several demands that Apple should bring back the smaller iPhone to the table, the Cupertino giant made those wishes come true and that in the next couple of weeks, users will have those smaller iPhone device makes their way on their hands once again.

As you might have guessed it, the new iPhone SE is a mixed of both worlds, the realm of the smaller iPhone 5s and the reality of the larger iPhone 6s. From the footprint side of things, the iPhone SE follows the same smaller build as the iPhone 5s with a familiar looking exterior features. However, beyond this point, it’s literally an iPhone 6s internals in a small form factor.

The handset features a 4.0-inch Retina display with a 5 Megapixel FaceTime camera which should be more than enough to make video calls and provides a great feat for Selfies with Apple’s utilization of the display which they called the Retina flash as the front light source for taking photos with the front camera. What the retina flash actually do is that when taking photos with the FaceTime camera, the display on the iPhone becomes 25 per cent much brighter than it would normally do bringing a clearer photos and true-tone quality images. Another thing that you’ll never miss with the iPhone is its home button which also comes embedded with a Touch ID sensor.

Moving on to the side of the handset are the three physical buttons that includes the volume rocker and the ring/silent button while at the top is the on/off/sleep/wake button.Going down at the bottom is the familiar 3.5 mm audio jack with a pair of grills that houses the microphone and the speaker and between these grills is the lighting port for charging and wired data transfer and connectivity option.

At the back, there’s the familiar iPhone 5s features however the biggest difference they have in this area is the camera. The iSight camera within the new iPhone SE is the same sensor that is found on the iPhone 6s with 12 Megapixel iSight sensor and features autofocus with focus pixels feature. The iSight camera is equipped with 5-Element lens and includes a hybrid IR filter with Backside Illumination sensor or BSI and is protected with its Sapphire crystal lens cover so you won’t have to worry about scratches on your iSight camera lens. One of the most welcome feature on its imaging capabilities is that it can record 4K videos seamlessly and can even take photos while video recording is going on. And finally, the main camera on the iPhone SE is support by true-tone dual-LED flash for a more natural photos and images.

Now that we have the details about the external features of the handset, let us go to the internals and see what ticks on the inside of every iPhone SE. Like the saying goes, “Don’t judge the book by its cover” and that’s just what the iPhone SE want to prove and that bigger isn’t always cooler. With the internals, unlike the outside of the device which you see a lot of similarities with the iPhone 5s, inside is a different story.

The iPhone SE runs on the latest A9 chip, a third generation 64-bit chipset that comes with anM9 motion coprocessor that rocks the iPhone 6s. This is by design a truly remarkable piece of hardware that performs on par with the larger iPhone making it the most powerful 4-inch iPhone handset in the market. As rumored earlier and confirmed during the Apple event, the iPhone SE will be available in two storage variants starting with a 16 GB base model and the other one with 64 GB of storage space.

The iPhone SE also comes with NFC to work with its Apple Pay feature that also goes hand in hand with its Touch ID feature for a convenient and more secure transactions. Standby time is theoretically up to 10 days with talk time over 3G of up to 14 hours. The handset will be available in four color variants and that includes Silver, Gold, Space Gray and the new Rose Gold color option.

So other that its size, what does the new iPhone SE different from the iPhone 6s, well, given the size of the handset, the price of the new iPhone SE is also smaller with the 16 GB variant that starts at only $399 while the 64 GB model goes out at $499 SIM free, but if you want to have them free then you could avail a two-year contract with $17 and $21 for 24 months respectively.
