After mocking Apple for not including a charger for the iPhone 12 and most likely its future successor, Xiaomi is also announcing one important decision for its 2021 flagship, and that is, not including the charger for the Xiaomi Mi 11.

As Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has cited, the decision was a response to the call of tech and environmental protection. While this comes with a valid reason, many Xiaomi fans and users including myself were not pleased with the announcement.

In addition to the announcement, Lei Jun also unveiled the Xiaomi Mi 11 retail box with a Chinese text saying: “Pack light in 2021”. The text hints Xiaomi future releases with no charger in the box.

The Xiaomi Mi 11 is set to go official on December 28 and will be packed with a significantly thinner albeit lighter retail box than the current Xiaomi retail boxes in the market. Apart from the obvious, it also gave us a look on some other important details for the upcoming Mi 11 including a 108 Megapixel camera, AMOLED display, HDR10+ support and Harman Kardon tuned Audio.

The trend with some important parts of the packaging going gone for future devices is a fact that while companies are trying to outrun Apple, one thing is for sure, Apple is the market’s trend setter. Whether you agree with that statement or not, Apple will remain to be a significant company not just today but for years to come.
