Xiaomi Mi 11 announced as the world’s first Snapdragon 888 device

The next generation of smartphone flagship devices is set to go on sale next year or just a few days from now exactly, and to top them all, Xiaomi is the world’s first smartphone brand to announced its 2021 flagship device with the Xiaomi Mi 11.

Besides being the first 2021 flagship device to be officially announced so far, the new Mi 11 is also the first device in the market to launch with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 at its heart.

The new chipset is paired to either an 8GB RAM with 128GB or 256GB of storage or a 12GB of RAM and a 256GB of storage. Like its predecessors, the Mi 11 doesn’t include the option for storage expansion but it can take OTG storage though for saving your personal files to a separate drive.

Another thing to get excited about the new Mi 11 is the display. Xiaomi usually settles for Full-HD+ displays for various reasons but they are betting on Quad-HD displays for the new flagship device.

The screen is about 6.81-inch and it’s AMOLED with 120Hz refresh rate. It comes with dual-curved screen and has an embedded fingerprint scanner on it provided by Goodix.

Not only that, it also has a fast 480Hz touch sampling rate making the new Mi 11 having one of the fastest and highly responsive displays around. The company also claims that the new Mi 11 has a peak brightness of 1,500nits and is covered by the new Gorilla Glass Victus.

The Mi 11 has one of the uniquely designed camera modules around and is equipped with 108 Megapixel sensor with a 7P lens and an f/1.85 aperture. The main camera sensor is backed by a 13 Megapixel 123° Ultra Wide and a 5 Megapixel macro. For Selfies, Xiaomi adds a punch hole on the display housing a 20 Megapixel camera.

Feature-wise, the new Xiaomi Mi 11 has a stereo speakers tuned by Harman-Kardon. You’d also expect 5G connectivity along with all other connectivity options coming as standard including backward support on LTE and up to GSM mobile networks, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC and GPS with A-GPS support.

The new Mi 11 is equipped with 4,600mAh battery and supports 55W on wired fast-charging, 50W on wireless charging and can deliver 10W reverse charging for other compatible devices.

The biggest drawback with the new Mi 11 device from Xiaomi is that is doesn’t come with a charger out of the box by default. However, Xiaomi clarifies that users may get a charger upon purchase at no extra cost if they don’t have a compatible charger for the device already.

Customers may now place their pre-order for the new Xiaomi Mi 11 with its first flash sale to go on January 1st with prices starting at CNY3,999 and up to CNY4,699 (that’s roughly around $610 and up to $720 when converted) in these color options: Black, White, Blue, Khaki Vegan Leather, Purple Leather and a Special Edition the the company’s CEO autograph.

Xiaomi only introduced the new Mi 11 as of the moment but the company is also set to unveil the Mi 11 Pro in a couple of months as is expected to have a better camera tricks up in its sleeve.
