Xiaomi finally introduced the Mi4. 5-inch LTE phone with Stainless Steel frame

After rumors and speculations, Xiaomi finally unveiled the next generation Mi handset with the new Mi 4. Presented by Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun in Beijing, the new Mi4 is the company newest and latest flagship device meant to continue the Mi3’s success in the market. Mi4 is the company’s first bet venture into the metal frame construction. The Mi4’s frame is a SAE 304 stainless steel which surrounds the handset and holds the 5-inch full HD display of the device and the slightly curved, interchangeable plastic cover on the back. The rumored metal back cover stayed to be rumors as they cannot be found anywhere during the event.

Spec-wise, the new Mi4 is running its own user environment with MIUI V6 on top of Android. underneath this beautiful device is a 2.5GHz Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC, 3 GB of RAM and either a 16 or 64 GB of storage. 13 Megapixel main camera from Sony IMX214 stacked CMOS sensor with LED flash and a Sony 8 Megapixel camera on the front.

The device supports 4G LTE network support and a handful of connectivity options which includes; Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth and an IR Blaster that made a comeback recently. Along with the said features, the new Mi4 comes with a 3,080 mAh battery that we think is more than good enough for normal daily use and that’s one of the advantages of the new Mi4.

Like all other Xiaomi devices, their latest flagship will be very much affordable at a price of 1,999 Yaun or at least 14K Php for the 16GB version and 2,499 Yuan or 17K Php for the 64 GB variant despite the impressive build quality and specs that the new Mi4 packs. Aside from the impressive specs lineup, Mi4 will have various accessories available for use. Starting with the exchangeable back covers that casts different colors and designs that suite every user needs.

To complement Mi4 beautiful craftsmanship, Xiaomi is giving the the device a companion wristband the Mi band. A waterproof fitness tracker that can be use to unlock the phone, track exercises and the quality of sleep that users get, it even has a unique alarm clock. The company said that it could last for 30 days in one full charge but currently its unclear of how long it could last in real world usage.

Mi4 is currently available only on key Asian regions that includes Singapore, Philippines Malaysia and recently India and with the set price tag. It could outrun other players in the market.
