Xiaomi has penetrated the mobile market in the Philippines and with Filipinos more concerned with the price that they’d pay for a mobile device, Xiaomi’s highly affordable devices have made the Filipinos welcome the company with open arms making it popular in the mass market segment. Xiaomi 2013 flagship the Mi 3 was a huge hit in the country, not only it has a very competitive price but also a quality built and highly spec device. It has become so popular not only in the Philippines but also in other parts of the world which help the company climbed in to the 3rd spot as the top mobile maker in the world overtaking LG.
Now owners of the Xiaomi Mi 3 should be rejoicing right now as one Xiaomi developer posted an image of an alleged Mi 3 device running Android 5.0 Lollipop, this seem to confirm that the company has been working with the new OS and will be releasing the highly awaited update soon. The image was posted on Weibo showing the device with the About Phone screen upfront which explicitly shows the Android version as 5.0 in it.
Though the company haven’t release any official statement regarding its progress or the availability of the said update but knowing that the company doesn’t abandon its former flagship device has given us hope that their customers are not forgotten. It shouldn’t take for the company to release the update and it would be wise to follow the footsteps that LG and Motorola has taken with their update roll out recently, to increase the customer confidence and updated of what’s new in the mobile scene.
