Xiaomi announces the new Black Shark 4 series, built for gaming
As it continue to thrive in the mobile gaming space, Xiaomi’s Black Shark gaming devices introduces the new Black Shark 4 series with two new devices in in sleeves with the vanilla Black Shark 4 and the flagship-grade Black Shark 4 Pro.
Both devices shares most of the same design, functions and features beginning with what users sees first on any device, the display. Both of these new devices is built around a 6.67-inch E4 AMOLED display manufactured by Samsung and it comes with up to 144Hz refresh rate and a high touch sampling rate of 720Hz.
As a gaming device, one could expect a dedicated gaming buttons in them and the Black Shark 4 didn’t disappoint as it includes a pressure-sensitive shoulder keys that recognizes light and hard presses. There are also two mode switches available on the right hand side and along with it is a fingerprint scanner that doubles as a home button, while the volume rocker sits on the left.
The new Black Shark 4 series uses the latest JOYUI 12.5 user interface that is based on Android 11 and comes with features that is dedicated mainly for gaming. It also comes with a 4,500 mAh embedded battery and supports up 120W fast charging which enables charging from zero to a hundred in just 15 minutes.
So how do these two differ? you may ask… We’ll the have quite different processors under the shell and one get a better spec in the camera department over the other.
With that being said, the Black Shark 4 uses the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 870. This chipset is basically a Snapdragon 865+ chip tweak to perform even better. The Black Shark 4 Pro on the other hand, gets the true 2021 flagship chipset as it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. While both have different chipsets though, you could expect them to perform at their optimum performance as you need them.
To even sustain the best performance possible in any situation, the Black Shark 4 series comes with built-in cooling solutions but the Black Shark 4 Pro goes even further with two layers of liquid cooling system which sandwiches the chipset and other components together. This solution according to Xiaomi will increase heat dissipation by 30% and will lower processor temperature by up to 18 degrees centigrade.
Another difference between the Black Shark 4 variants is that the Pro version is coming with Xiaomi’s new RAMDISK feature which uses RAM as temporary storage for files. This feature will enable apps to run much faster and the become handy when switching between apps.
As for imaging, the two Black Shark 4 devices has a triple camera sensors on the back. The vanilla version comes with a 48 Megapixel primary sensor while the Black Shark 4 Pro uses a 64 Megapixel camera. The rest of the sensor on the main camera module for these two devices includes a 8 Megapixel sensor with Wide-Angle lens and a 5 Megapixel macro shooter. On the front, there’s a 20 Megapixel Selfie camera which comes as standard for both variants.
The new Black Shark 4 series is available in Magic Black, Plain Black, and Plain Silver color variants with four primary RAM and Storage combos to choose from.
