We now have a total of 6,981 COVID-19 cases in the country

DOH released COVID-19 CASE BULLETIN #40 at 16:00H (4:00PM PST) on April 23, 2020.

The Department of Health has reported 271 new cases of COVID-19 in the country. This means that the country is still suffering from the spread of the disease which now counts a total of 6,981 confirmed cases.

The health department also reported 16 new deaths and that brings us to a Death toll of 462.

On the side of recoveries, we have 29 new recoveries added with a total of 722 recoveries recorded.


COVID-19 was declared by World Health Organization (WHO) as a Pandemic on March 03, 2020 which started in Wuhan, China. The disease is caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome – coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV2) with a Flu like symptoms such as Fever, Cough, Colds and in more severe cases Difficulty in Breathing.

There are no vaccines or direct cure for the disease at the moment and the only way to protect ourselves from getting infected is to practise proper and frequent handwashing, avoid touching our face, mouth, nose and eyes. Our health experts as well as the government urged everyone to wear a suitable and effective face mask as much as possible and when outside of our homes.
