It is part of the Windows RT platform so users can be rest assured that whether they’re using a full Windows 8 PC, slate/tablet or a Windows RT tablet, they can always fire-up their VLC player to play their favorite multimedia contents.
VLC Player for Windows 8.1 supports a number of media formats that includes: Ogg, FLAC, MKV, AVI and MPEG formats regardless of its codec. It also supports: mp3, mp4 and other audio formats so users can virtually most common and popular media formats unless stated on the developer’s website.
The new VLC player is currently in Beta but users can now download the app at Windows App Store. It fully supports Windows 8.1 and comes with bug fixes and performance enhancements.
