Upcoming Gionee M5 will bring 6000 mAh of power into the mid-range market
Gionee is best known for their slim-profiled smartphone with one time a holder of the thinnest phone in the market the Elife 5.5 which have attracted a lot of customers that brings back the memories we once had with Motorola’s Razor series, unlike the latter, purely based in China which only a number of markets that Gionee handsets are available. While “thin is in” in the past, it looks like Gionee is also tapping other areas which helps improve their devices and will even be more attractive than we’ve previously thought.
Moments after the Elife E8 was unveiled, another device pop out from the mystery closet and teased by Gionee with one the most attractive feature from a handset the mysterious M5. Unlike any other smartphones in the market today, the alleged Gionee M5 will feature two batteries inside the unit and is said to give users at least a total of four days of power before it needs recharging.
Early leaks of information regarding the mysterious handset just came out a few days ago and with the handset visiting TENAA in China confirms the previous leaks along with photos and specs of the Gionee M5.
As it turns out, the upcoming Gionee M5 will be hitting into the mid-range market with mid-range specs with the exception of a very large battery. TENAA also confirmed the handset’s dual battery gives a total of 6000 mAh of power that could really set at least four days of normal usage before it needs to be recharged. Because of its large batteries, the Gionee M5 will be a lot thicker at 8.5mm and a lot more heavier with 213 grams against its competitions.
Specs also revealed that the Gionee M5 will have a 5.5-inch 720p HD AMOLED display and under the hood is a Quad-core 1.3 GHz processor along with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage space. Also there’s an 8 Megapixel main shooter with LED flash plus a 5 Megapixel camera on the front which should take care both the selfies a high quality video calls.
The Gionee M5 will also be one of the first Android 5.0 Lollipop powered device with an ample size of battery. Thought the handset may be one of the first for Lollipop but not for the entire Android ecosystem. One device also existed with the same battery capacity with Innos D6000 but the latter is powered by Android 4.4 (KitKat) as is said to be popular among readers. The Gionee M5 might as well be on the same market as it got the features needed to go on par with the competition.
While Gionee isn’t saying much about the handset right now but given the fact that it has already been filed at TENAA, we could at least expect a device launch pretty much soon.
