After more than a year in the market, “Pocophone” or simply “Poco” proved that smartphone devices do not need to be expensive to be in a flagship category or be on the high-end sheet as the Poco F1 undoubtedly delivered flagship performance in a very reasonable and affordable price.

Though it took almost two years to get the next sequel, the wait seems not a waste as Poco has finally introduce a worthy successor to the first generation device. Meet the new Poco F2 Pro.

The Poco F2 Pro seems familiar isn’t it? That’s because the new handset is a rebadged of the Redmi K30 Pro but surely has the significant upgrades from the Poco F1.

The handset is built around a 6.67-inch AMOLED Full Screen display with a resolution of 2400×1080 Full-HD+ with an Aspect ratio of 20:9 and has a 92.7% of screen-to-body ratio. What’s significantly missing though is a higher refresh rate as the Poco F2 Pro only supports 60Hz refresh rate with 180Hz sample rate.

What really makes it a flagship of some sort automatically is that for a fact that it is powered by a flagship chipset with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865. The chipset is supported by either a 6GB LPDDR4x or an 8GB LPDDR5 RAM with a fast UFS 3.1 storage in 128GB and 256GB respectively. Unfortunately with the second-generation Poco device missed the expandable storage option this time around.

Besides the flagship chipset, what Poco is emphasizing is its LiquidCool 2.0 technology, which has multi-layer liquid cooling process made possible of 3-layers composing of Graphite, Graphene and the “Super VC”. Its vapor chamber is larger than competing devices in the market covering 28% of the body and could lower CPU temperatures up to 14°C.

A flagship smartphone device is synonymous with flagship-grade camera sensors. The Poco F2 Pro is undoubtedly a huge upgrade since the Poco F1 and the new Poco F2 Pro now sport a total of four cameras. The main camera is a 64 Megapixel Sony IMX686 sensor with 1/1.7” large sensor size with an f/1.89 Aperture wide-angle lens. The main camera is joined by a 13 Megapixel camera with Ultra Wide angle lens plus a 5 Megapixel macro sensor that also works as a Telephoto with 2x zoom and a 2 Megapixel depth sensor.

As the new Poco F2 Pro runs on a powerful chipset, what it means for imaging is that the device can record 8K videos at 30fps but that should cost a lot of storage space if that’s your thing. As for 4K videos, it is now possible to record at 60fps.

For the front-facing camera, the Poco F2 Pro adopts a motorized mechanism for the 20 Megapixel Selfie camera, this makes the display on the phone untouched and free from the any distractions.

Feature-wise, Poco kept the 3.5mm on the device which should delight anyone missing the headphone jack. It also feature an in-display fingerprint scanner though they are those optical type but should do the security you need for your device. It also got a FM Radio, NFC and an IR Blaster, there’s also the new WiFi6, Bluetooth 5.1 with AptX and GPS with A-GPS and GLONASS support and of course 5G.

Poco F2 Pro runs MIUI for POCO, a proprietary user interface for Poco devices based on the latest Android 10 operating system. For the battery, the smartphone device has a 4700mAh embedded battery and supports 30W fast charge though its USB-C port.

The new Poco F2 Pro will be available online starting at $500/500 Euros for the 6G/128GB version. The 8GB/256GB on the other hand is priced at $600 with both configurations to be available in these color options: Cyber Grey, Electric Purple, Phantom White and Neon Blue.

The handset will be available by May 19 through online stores including: Gearbest, AliExpress, Lazada, Amazon, Shopee, JD and more. You can also pre-order the device from any of these online stores we’ve mentioned.
