Oppo recently stepped up the game bringing premium features down to the entry-level devices. The new Oppo A3 gets them without a second thought and it’s eye-catching by the way. Earlier, Oppo launched their flagship the R15 line with top of the line specs, then there’s the F7, the company’s mid-range handset that is hailed as the Selfie expert in smartphone devices. Both of these devices comes with a FullView display and a notch, so when the company was rumored to bring out another device to complete its lineup, we expect the trend to continue and we are actually spot-on for these developments.
The Oppo A series are usually entry-level handsets but the A3 somewhat sits between the entry-level and the mid-range markets, despite what others are calling it, the series are designed to cater the budget-conscious market. That doesn’t make them look bad though, in fact, Oppo made most of the features from their higher-end ranges available in the A series, in the case of the A3, the notch-equipped FullView display and the latest mid-range Helio P60 chipset.
The handset’s FullView display is a large 6.2-inch LTPS panel with a cut-out on top that houses its front-facing camera and the earpiece. The resolution in in Full-HD+ with a high 405 ppi pixels pero inch. Powering the device in the new Helio P60 from MediaTek with 8-core CPU and a dual-core AI chip built-in. The handset comes with 4GB of system RAM and a whopping 128GB of internal storage with microSD card support for storage expansion.
The A3 includes a 16 Megapixel main camera with a bright f/1.7 Aperture lens. On the front, it has a standard 8 Megapixel Selfie shooter with a favorable f/2.2 Aperture lens for good Selfies. It can capture 1080p videos. Expect more with photos with enhancements and more thanks to its built-in AI core.
Now that AI technology is spread across different ranges and devices, their capabilities can now be experienced even with budget devices. With AI, the Oppo A3 can easily unlocked the devices with the user’s face with up to 128 recognized face-points that easily bring the user straight to the main screen faster than a blink of an eye. It misses out the usual fingerprint scanner in favor of its Face unlocking feature. AI also help conserve power on the Oppo A3, AI handles its power management which extends the battery life for more and exciting experiences.
It runs on a 3400 mAh embedded battery and is driven by Oppo’s proprietary ColorOS 5.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. It will be available in these colors: Black, Silver, Pink, and Red. The price is at CNY2,099 or about $332 available today.
