TECNO Unveils PHANTOM Ultimate G Fold concept device: The World’s First Inward Tri-Folding Smartphone

Foldable devices are becoming the next generation of smartphones, but a tri-folding one takes innovation to another level. That’s exactly what TECNO is exploring with their new concept device, the TECNO PHANTOM Ultimate G Fold. This tri-folding smartphone is the world’s first inward-folding model featuring the company’s custom-engineered dual-hinge system.

The mechanism operates seamlessly using a smaller waterdrop hinge to fold one part of the display inward, while a larger hinge folds the other display over it. This system eliminates gaps and incorporates a self-locking function that secures the device when closed.

TECNO engineers made thoughtful design choices in building the PHANTOM Ultimate G Fold, starting with the hinges and extending to a thin yet durable frame. When folded, the device measures just 11.49mm thick, making it the thinnest tri-folding smartphone currently, beating the Huawei-pioneered Mate XT, which measures 12.8mm.

Thanks to its tri-fold design, the PHANTOM Ultimate G Fold offers remarkable versatility. When folded, it functions like a regular smartphone. Fully unfolded, it reveals a wide and spacious 9.94-inch display, turning it into a full-fledged tablet. Partially folded, it serves as a mini workstation.

There’s still a lot we don’t know, as TECNO is keeping most of the specs under wraps for now. However, the company has revealed that the PHANTOM Ultimate G Fold houses an impressive battery with a capacity of over 5,000mAh.

It also features a triple-camera setup located on the middle third of the device, which becomes the back when folded. The dual-hinge design allows for flexible positioning, enabling the camera to function like it’s mounted on a tripod.

As mentioned earlier, the TECNO PHANTOM Ultimate G Fold is still a concept device, but you’ll be able to see it live at MWC 2026.
