Swiftkey now free on Android, bumps to version 5 with better themes and emoji’s support
One of the most popular third-party keyboard found on Google Play the SwiftKey can now be downloaded for free. As they are anticipated to hit iOS 8 later this year, the Android version is now absolutely free. Before, the SwiftKey virtual keyboard was available on Google Play either as a free trial version or purchase the premium version. Today, What’s left is only the premium version without the accompanying price tag.
Aside from becoming free, the new Swiftkey for Android bumps into version 5.0 with a lot of new features and improvements. As the virtual keyboard becomes free, its developer introduces a new way to personalized the virtual keys with themes. These themes can be then be purchased within the app via the Swiftkey Store. There are at least 30 different themes you can get from the Swiftkey store at the moment. For users who previously purchased the premium suite can claim the Premier Pack bundle which consists of 10 themes for free.
Text prediction has also vastly improved with version 5.0, its learning capabilities and Capitalization are also said to have improved. It’s multilingual predictions has also improved as well in which users can now at least key in texts in three different languages and with improved accuracy.
One of the most worked out feature in Swiiftkey 5.0 is its emoji support with at least 800 emoji icons currently supported and growing. Aside from the typical text prediction support, Emoji predictions are also enhanced. This feature however is currently supported on devices with Android 4.4 KitKat and up.
