Sony’s new Smartwatch 3 with Android Wear flaunts waterproofing and changeable straps

Sony has been with smartwatch since the dawn of the idea. It was one of the companies that brought out the first generation smartwatches. As the user interface and technology has improved, Sony is quick enough to respond to the trend. As a follow-up to its previous generation smartwatches, Sony unveiled the new Smartwatch 3 and bears the latest Android Wear Platform for wearable devices.

The third generation Sony Smartwatch comes with a 1.6-inch 320 x 320 resolution display, 1.2GHz Quad-core processor, 512MB RAM and 4GB of internal storage space which should enable users to take a handful of multimedia files with them inside the portable smartwatch device. It also support NFC and GPS. It runs on a 420 mAh battery which Sony says it could last for a couple of days of continuous usage or four days on standby.  It features a IP68 certification which simply means that users can wear this gadget anywhere as it is fully waterproof.

Sony Smartwatch 3’s wrist strap is changeable with a number of color options. Sony has also pointed out that the new Smartwatch 3 will fully support the upcoming Android Wear update features that makes the smartwatch much more smarter and could stand on its own. Together with an accompanying Lifelog Android app which logs entirely the users events, not just the usual fitness tracking features but also the lifestyle of the user.

The new Smartwatch 3 will be available around this fall and will cost 299.99 euros.
