This article is a little late but it’s not as late as the “new” Sony Xperia Pro who recently joined the flagship party with (uuhhmm) a one year old processor.
The Sony Xperia Pro was announced back in February of 2020 which back then was full of hopes and dreams and promises for mobile photography, After its brief announcement, we haven’t heard about the device until almost a year later.
Surprisingly though, Sony priced this device at a whopping US$2,499, that’s almost doubled for a 2021 flagship device from other competing brands. Worst is that it comes powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, not even the “+” variant. But to compensate the cost, the device comes with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of expandable storage.
For the display, the device is built around a 6.5-inch 4K HDR OLED panel that supports up to 1B of colors, 21:9 Aspect ratio and a Corning Gorilla Glass 6 covering.
The Sony Xperia Pro is basically the Xperia 1 II down to the camera which has a trio of 12 Megapixel sensors on the back that consist of a primary sensor a Telephoto camera and an Ultra Wide. There’s a forth sensor in the mix and that is a 0.3 Megapixel depth sensor while the front comes with a standard 8 Megapixel Selfie camera.
What keeps it different from the rest of the Sony Xperia smartphones is its four 5G mmWave antenna and a micro-HDMI connector which lets owner connect them to Sony’s Alpha Full-frame camera and work as a viewfinder/external monitor. With its connectivity support, users will be able to upload there photos and videos to a FTP server easily and virtually in real-time.
With these small added feature to the new device, would users be entice get the new Xperia Pro at this hefty price tag?
Just in case someone’s got a lot of money to give up, the Sony Xperia Pro is now available exclusively in the US through Verizon Wireless.
