Samsung fulfilled its promise to support flagship devices with at least two major software updates. This goes true with the two-year old Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge, at least for now in the UK. The said update was supposedly released last month under Verizon but for some reasons that wasn’t the case. but today, Samsung finally made the roll out official and it’s available for these devices from Vodafone and also to the unlocked versions of the handset.

The update has the following version numbers: G930FXXU2ERD5 for the Galaxy S7 and G935FXXU2ERD5 for the Galaxy S7 edge. Updates for both devices are currently available through Over-The-Air (OTA) but not in SmartSwitch yet. Besides jumping the Android version number to 8.0, the software package also includes Samsung’s latest Samsung Experience 9.0 UI along with the latest April 1, 2018 security patch.

The update like in the past, will be rolled out in batches and should be available in other regions and their mobile carriers soon. But if you happen to live in the UK and either got your device from Vodafone or is SIM-Free and you still haven’t got the notification for the update, you can check it manually by going to : Settings > Software update.
