Users, fans and enthusiasts has long for such a device from Samsung for months, with rumors pointing out some of the key features that might even tell you to forget that Samsung ever released the Galaxy S6 last year or shall we say that the Galaxy S7 it what we’ve hoped for the Galaxy S6 that it never was.
From our perspective, the Galaxy S7 and the S7 edge is nothing but the Galaxy S6 on the outside, in fact long before its official unveiling, Samsung already admitted that the two new flagship devices would look closely similar to the outgoing Galaxy S6 and they stay with their words. Both devices features the same design language but the biggest advancements with the seventh iteration of the handset can be found on the inside.
First things first, Users of the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge might have enjoyed what their humble experiences that they have with their handsets and most of them are with high praises especially when it comes to performance. There hasn’t been so much of issues present with the outgoing models that except on what we are going to take up next, pretty much everything works more than enough with the Galaxy S6 but fans and enthusiasts couldn’t just ignore what Samsung did with such a powerful device. The outgoing model didn’t came with an expandable memory and a removable battery which angered lots of fans of the series, despite many being disappointed, Samsung still managed to profit from last year’s version of the Galaxy S but the damaged it done with their market share is undeniably noticeable.
Lucky for us, 2015 came past so fast and Samsung now literally listened to its users in some degree that they made a dramatic changes with their upcoming Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge or their shares will suffer even further. With the new Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, Samsung is bringing back the microSD support on the Galaxy S7 series. Though Samsung still opted not to bring back the removable battery feature, it managed to bring up the battery capacity of both Galaxy S7 variants and it made sure that users shouldn’t be worried about a draining battery as Samsung has also incorporated new features that saves as much battery power as possible.
With the new Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, Samsung made smartphone devices more photography enthusiasts. Though in 2016, Samsung have to downscale and deviate from the Megapixel race and bring in more practical features that makes photography on a smartphone more immersive and engaging. With the new flagship, Samsung went for a 12 Megapixel sensor where it’s a lot less impressive compared to last year’s 16 Megapixel shooter.
However despite the downscale in Megapixels, Samsung is compensating for other features that’s more practical than stepping up the Megapixels of its imaging sensor. The upcoming flagship devices comes with a dual pixel camera technology similar to those implemented on DSLR’s that helps focus on objects in just a split second. With the new handset, Samsung also incorporates larger pixels on the Galaxy S7’s arsenal together with a larger f/1.7 aperture to capture more light and enhances the quality and clarity of the images taking in low light conditions.
With increasing popularity in digital transactions, Samsung brings its Samsung Pay feature to the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge with the help of MST and NFC, users can virtually go anywhere leaving their cash and credit card at home as all it takes is a compatible phone such as the Galaxy S7 and a receiver through NFC wireless technology users can use their devices to pay just about anything. Samsung KNOX also keeps all transaction more security with its award-winning security features that keeps users safe and use the technology with confidence.
The Galaxy S7 and the S7 edge still manages to stay true to the perfect size of its predecessor, the regular Galaxy S7 still comes with a balance sized display of 5.1-inch across while the Galaxy S7 edge comes with a larger 5.5-inch dual curved display and as the design seems to hint progressive and modern stance, Samsung finds it more favorable to stick with the design.
While both the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S7 features the same designs, the Galaxy S7 is a more refined piece of hardware with an improved glass and metal finish and both devices comes with a curved back and has been accomplished with Samsung’s new “3D thermal forming” techniques for a better and ergonomic curves for better grip. It’s rounded corners ensures that the handset stays sexy and easy to hold plus everything just looks premium with a 3D glass lamination on both front and back. Added to that, the new Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge comes with an IP68 certification for water resistance of up to 5 feet for 30 minutes at most.
Take it anywhere you want, might it be in the rain, the shower or in the pool, the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge can take the beating of all your time in the water without any problem. Samsung has refined its waterproof design that even the USB port of the design can stay capless which infact, the handset’s USB port doesn’t come with a cap at all.
The Galaxy S7 comes with a 5.1-inch screen while the Galaxy S7 edge sportsa 5.5-inch screen size but despite their differences, both devices comes with a QHD Super AMOLED display with 1440 x 2560 resolutions. Introduced in the new flagship is the new Always On feature, a smartphone feature that allows the phone to have important information such as missed calls, messages, emails voice mailbox and other important information to be available every time on screen without the need for users to wake their device to view these notifications thus consuming less power.
Underneath the sexy chassis, is a beastly and powerful processor with either the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 with 4-core processor running at 2.15 GHz or in some markets with Samsung’s own Exynos 8890 with 8-core processor running at 2.3GHz, either of these two processors that users are getting, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the S7 edge should deliver stunning performance. It continues to serve with 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and a choice of either 32 GB or 64 GB of internal storage space.
