Samsung Galaxy S5 is here
A significant upgrade from its predecessor, less bloatware more features

The new Galaxy S5 is undoubtedly one of the most awaited Android handset recently and together with MWC 2014, Samsung has pulled the veil of their latest flagship with their Unpacked 5 event.
To start with, the upcoming flagship device stayed gorgeous as it was thought to be since it took some rumors. Though as expected, the Korean tech giant went out with a different device despite rumors and speculations went online for several months before the unveiling. Not all hopes had failed though as some of those rumors are notably true and one of those rumors proves to be a practical inclusion with a device that serves to be highly usable and indeed powerful enough to handle today’s standard and processing power.
The Galaxy S5 is housed with a plastic shell, there have been several rumors before that the upcoming flagship device will finally wave its plastic layered year with an aluminum casing, the UNPacked 5 event proves that rumor to be wrong and instead Samsung opted for the time tested durability of polycarbonate shell.
Upfront, the Galaxy S5 projects its highly beautiful full-HD sAMOLED display measuring at 5.1-inch of viewing angle with the familiar three button navi keys at the bottom of the front panel. On the back is the familiar main camera module together with its LED flash. Unlike its predecessor, the Galaxy S5 features a perforated removable plastic cover which matte finish bringing a much better premium feel to it.
Feature-wise, the new Samsung Galaxy S5 features a 5.1-inch full HD super AMOLED display with resolutions at 1920 x 1800, with processors running on different variants and markets, one will be running a 2.5 GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon processor while the other one would be running on Octa-Core processor (Exynos) clocked at 2.1 GHz. 3 GB of RAM, 16/32 GB of internal storage with memory expansion capabilities via a microSD card supporting up to 128 GB.
On the imaging side, the new Galaxy S5 feature an improved camera module with 16 Megapixel sensor with LED flash on the main camera and a standard 2 Megapixel secondary camera on the front. It supports HDR video recording with 2160p @ 30fps, 1080p @ 60 fps. As standard with every Samsung device, the Galaxy S5 imaging department supports a significant number of video and imaging enhancements in order to capture that precious moments with a smartphone device without sacrificing quality.With the latest improvements in camera technology with smartphone devices, capturing images and videos with handsets are indeed quite practical nowadays.
The device is without a full set of connectivity options and with that, Samsung packs a few bunch of different options to help users get in touch or plainly access the web. It features WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, HSDPA, HSUPA and a wide LTE coverage with Category 4 standard. The Galaxy S5 comes with the new Download booster – a WiFi technology designed to bond both WiFi connectivity and LTE in order to boost data speeds.
In order to fulfill most of user requests, Samsung managed to lessen the bloatware it could practically include with the device. The tech giant carefully picked a few selected apps that adds a key value to the overall user experience. One of the new features that Samsung has been talking about is its latest fitness app the S Health 3.0 that packs a fully featured personal fitness and health tracker along with an included pedometer sensor and the new heart rate monitor.
Aside from the features mentioned, the Galaxy S5 now also comes with features that proves to be a must in today’s lifestyle. Beginning with the included finger print sensor that provides an added security to the device and most importantly in making online purchases with is becoming a lot more common today. As an added protection, The Galaxy S5 is now dust and water resistant of up to 3 feet of water, well that would be great enough for accidental spills and such.
The Galaxy S5 will be powered by a 2,800 mAh battery which is if not significant but notable upgrade from its predecessor with 200 mAh more. The flagship device also features a new way to save a dying battery with the new Ultra Power Saving Mode which turns off unnecessary functions and turns the display into black and white in order to save power.
The Galaxy S5 will start a worldwide rollout on the 11th of April and would come in four different colors : charcoal Black, shimmery White, electric Blue and copper Gold.
