Samsung finally made the Galaxy Tab S2 official with fingerprint scanner in tow
Samsung just announced today their latest, slimmest and lightest tablet to date and that’s none other than the new Galaxy Tab S2. “The Galaxy Tab S2 is not only our thinnest and lightest tablet of its size ever, it also gives users quick, easy access to a wealth of superior viewing and productivity features,” “We believe the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is the most complete personal visual device designed for consumers to carry and use anywhere.” that’s according to Samsung’s CEO and President of IT & Mobile Division JK Shin.
The new Galaxy Tab S2 comes in two variations and that includes the Tab S2 with 8-inch display and the Tab S2 with 9.7-inch display variant. Both variants sports a super AMOLED display, a significantly top-notch display in its class bringing clear and natural images. The display offers the same user experience that we get on traditional print media together with its light and thinner profile, the Galaxy Tab S2 make it more comfortable to read digital contents such as e-books, documents, magazines and browse the web.
The Galaxy Tab S2 comes in two variants, the 8.0 variant does come with an 8-inch display and weighs around 265 grams at 5.6 mm thick together with the tablet’s 4000 mAh battery. As for the 9.7 variant, the tablet comes with a 9.7-inch display and weighs a little heavier at 389 grams and at the same thickness as the 8.0 variant at 5.6 mm. Aside from the larger display, what made the 9.7 variant heavier is the larger battery pack that runs at 5870 mAh.
As premium as it should, the new Galaxy Tab S2 also comes with a top in its class power and performance features. ticking inside in every Galaxy Tab S2 is a octa-core processor in big.LITTLE architecture with 4-cores 1.9 GHz and 4-cores of 1.3 GHz processors, 3 GB of RAM and either 32 or 64 GB of expandable internal storage space. The Galaxy Tab S2 will be running Android 5.0 Lollipop with multitasking support functions.
In the past, it’s quite silly to see people using their tablets to take pictures out in the open but the trend seems to have gone with the flow and today, we normally see people using tablets as their primary camera device. It’s one of the key areas of these devices that many manufacturers are now starting to innovate and that includes Samsung. With the Galaxy Tab S2, it comes with a more than just the ordinary camera equipment on a tablet. On the front, there’s the familiar front facing camera with a standard 2.1 Megapixel sensor, while the back is a the more capable 8.0 Megapixel camera but unfortunately it doesn’t come with a flash so you’ll have to rely on whatever light source is present in the surroundings.
Standard to tablet devices are the number of connectivity options possible. Both variants of the device supports 4G/LTE wireless connectivity + Wi-Fi and a Wi-Fi only device. while we have a few differences in terms of cellular capabilities, what’s standard is that it includes Bluetooth 4.1, GPS with GLONASS support. There’s also the growing popularity of a biometric sensor device and the Galaxy Tab S2 just got its own fingerprint scanner to complete the hardware specs line-up.
For availability, Samsung mentioned that the Galaxy Tab S2 should be available globally starting next month. Though the Korean tech giant haven’t disclosed any information about the tablet’s pricing, we expect them to become available depending on the region where the device will become available.
