For years, it has always been exciting during this time of the year for Samsung with their annual Galaxy UNPacked event. It’s the time for the company’s flagship device unveiling where there no less than the Galaxy S series. This year marks the 10th Anniversary of the series with the new Galaxy S10 lineup and celebrating its decade long existence doesn’t just gave us one device to celebrate but actually four in total and even a new series altogether. Right now we’ll get into the flagship devices for this post.

Like we’ve mentioned, The Galaxy S10 is available in four variants: the Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+, and the Galaxy S10e and the Galaxy S10 5G. These devices are packed with innovative features and introduces us to some of the worlds first.

The Galaxy S10 series offers the new Dynamic AMOLED displays, it’s the next generation of Super AMOLED with the first of its kind to support HDR10+ on mobile devices.

Connectivity remains the main priority for the Galaxy S10, Samsung made it sure that users will get the best of the best on their flagship device. For Wi-Fi, The Galaxy S10 lineup is the world’s first devices to include support for the latest generation Wi-Fi 6 – a faster and more secure Wi-Fi experience there is.

While the three of these new devices offers 4G connectivity, a special version of the Galaxy S10 offers the company’s first 5G enabled device where connections speeds are blazing fast than available with 4G speeds of today. The Galaxy S10 5G shows Samsung future-proof approach to an ever changing technology driven society.

The Galaxy S10 lineup also offer its first wireless reverse charging technology called PowerShare, where users will be able to charge their wireless charging enabled devices from the Galaxy S10. It can even act as a wireless charging pad for other devices when plugged.

Samsung’s multi-camera setup on their smartphone are fully utilized on the Galaxy S10 series with at least dual camera sensors on the back and up to four on its 5G variant. Not only that, the Galaxy S10 series also introduces us to the first punch hole front cameras on their Infinity-O displays.

Beginning with the Galaxy S10, Samsung offers its first Ultrasonic Fingerprint reader right from the device’s display. It takes a 3D scan of your fingers which is by design a more accurate approach the a conventional 2D scans from optical readers.

For Music and technically Audio enthusiasts, the Galaxy S10 series includes a set of Stereo speakers that is tuned by AKG and supports Dolby ATMOS.

But the best thing that happened to Samsung’s latest flagship isn’t just all about hardware but also software itself. From Samsung’s optimized One UI and up to its underlying AI algorithms that assists users in every way, you’ll find that Samsung has a dedicated AI assistant called Bixby to do just about anything and as you may know, it has its own hardware button. But luckily for non-Bixby fans out there, it’s a refreshing start for Samsung as they have finally enabled remapping of the Bixby button to launch other supported apps.

The Galaxy S10+

High-end always has a Plus to it and that can be said true with the Galaxy S10+. It’s has the most innovative features there is on the Galaxy S10 lineup and it’s the largest too. It’s got a curved 6.4-inch Dynamic AMOLED display in 1440p resolutions. An ultrasonic fingerprint scanner is available at the bottom part of the display.

It’s Infinity-O display has a dual camera punch-hole at the top right corner of the screen where it houses a 10MP primary shooter together with an 8MP depth sensor. It can take 4K videos and as you’d guess it, variable portrait Selfies.

Behind, you’ll see a minimalist designed back with a quarter from the top sits three camera lens of the phone. It’s primary camera is a 12MP sensor that features dual Aperture that can switch between f/1.5 and f/2.4 and has Dual Pixel autofocus. Then the second sensor (also a 12MP) has a Telephoto lens that takes 2x optical zoom images. Both of these sensor are equipped with Optical Image Stabilization. The third is a 16MP shooter and comes with an Ultra-wide lens at 123-degree however it comes with a fixed-focus lens.

Depending on the market, the Galaxy S10+ will be powered by either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 or a Samsung Exynos 9820. Here in the Philippines, we’ll have the Exynos variant for sure as it has always been. It will shipped 8GB of RAM with either 128GB or 512GB of storage and a whopping 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. It also supports microSD memory expansion of up to 512GB cards.

The new Galaxy S10+ boots Android 9 Pie with a highly optimized One UI on top. Running the handset will be a 4100 mAh embedded battery and supports fast charging either through USB-C or wireless charging. Like we have mentioned earlier, the Galaxy S10+ has PowerShare support.

It will be available as early as next month in Prism White, Prism Black, Prism Blue, Flamingo Pink and a special version of the handset with Ceramic White and Ceramic Black color options.

The Galaxy S10 5G

Basically a Galaxy S10+ with 5G modem on it. It’s the first Samsung device to support 5G radio. It sport the same display size at 6.4-inch of curved Dynamic AMOLED display with its ultrasonic fingerprint reader at the bottom. At the top of the screen is Samsung’s Punch hole dual camera setup of its Infinity-O display.

Unlike any of the Galaxy S10 lineup, the 5G version of the handset comes with a quad-camera setup bringing more options for photography on a smartphone. It is powered by the same processor as the Galaxy S10+ with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. Unfortunately this version of handset does not include a microSD slot so you’ll be stuck with what the handset provides.

Besides these few differences, the rest of the Galaxy S10 5G is basically what the Galaxy S10+ has to offer

Galaxy S10

If you want a feature-packed Galaxy S10 device but is not a fan of larger phones, then the Galaxy S10 is right for you. Most of the features from the Galaxy S10+ can be found on the Galaxy S10 with a slightly smaller 6.1-inch screen but still, you’ll be able to enjoy the new curved Dynamic AMOLED display in a smaller form factor.

It features an ultrasonic fingerprint reader right under the display and a punch hole on the top that houses a single 10MP Selfie camera.

On the back there’s the same horizontally oriented triple camera system like the Galaxy S10+ with the features and hardware all carried into the smaller device.

It is also powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 or an Exynos 9820 with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or half a terabyte of storage plus a microSD card slot in case of storage expansion

The handset runs on a smaller battery at 3400 mAh and features fast charging both on wired and wireless routes. It also supports PowerShare wireless charging for charging other wireless devices.

Galaxy S10e

On Samsung’s perspective, the Galaxy S10e will be budget friendly. At least it’s not something that users will have to sell a kidney or break a leg. And it’s might just works.

The new handset, unlike all other versions that we have above has a flat 5.8-inch display but kept the Dynamic AMOLED display however in lower resolution at 1080p+. There’s no under-display fingerprint reader for the device and instead, it’s mounted on the side of the device.

There’s a punch hole as well on the display and this houses the single 10MP front-facing camera. On the back, there will only be two cameras on the back, a 12MP primary camera and a secondary 16MP camera with wide-angle lens.

The handset is powered by either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 or Exynos 9820 along with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB or a 256GB of onboard storage respectively. It has a microSD card slot as well so you don’t have to worry about storage shortage.

Running the new handset is a 3100mAh battery. Though you might think it’s one little modest for such a device, it supports fast charging thought both on wired and wireless charging with PowerShare support too

These devices are all equipped with a built-in 3.5mm jack so you don’t have to source out a compatible headset to make things work. I also comes with an IP68 hardware rating.

The new Galaxy S10 series has opened its pre-order taking today. So grab one and experience a whole new mobility and communication device.
