If you’ve been craving for the new water and dust resistant Samsung flagship device the Galaxy S5 you might want to consider on what’s next from the tech giant. There were rumors circulating recently about Samsung’s plans to release a new quad-HD display equipped ( 2560×1440 resolutions ) smartphone device, this might hold true as the company is reportedly to undergo interoperability testing this week to demonstrate that the device is ready to go out in the market.

The alleged device is said to be Samsung’s project KQ which is anticipated to be the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime. The Galaxy S5 Prime is said to include features from the current Galaxy S5 device with a few hardware enhancements. The Galaxy S5 was originally planned to include a qHD display but was constraint with the cost producing the said display. With the Galaxy S5 Prime, the postponed plans made earlier is being pushed through via a new flagship variant.

Aside from a quad HD display for the new variant, the Galaxy S5 Prime is also rumored to include a new Octa-Core Exynos 5430 chip with 2.1 GHz Cortex-A15 and a low power 1.5 GHz Cortex A7 cores and sports a built-in Intel LTE radio and the Mali T6XXX GPU clocked at 600MHz.

As the new breed of quad HD display are yet to become mainstream, the cost on which the displays are produced might force Samsung to follow the same path of Samsung’s Galaxy Round in which Samsung will also release the alleged device in limited quantities and is expected to have a more premium price from the current Galaxy S5. As the device is said to be under testing, when the tests results returns positively which might end in a month or two, Samsung might release the new Galaxy S5 Prime around June as expressed in earlier leaks and reports.
