Realme is primarily oriented to the budget-centric market that makes devices with good hardware at a cheaper price. The company earlier promised a flagship device for 2021 and indeed they brought a Snapdragon 888-powered handset on the new Realme GT 5G.
As the name suggest, one can expect impressive hardware and it just means fast. With a Snapdragon 888 at its heart, it gets paired with either 8GB or a 12GB of system RAM, the storage however non-expandable and will be at 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 respectively.
The new Realme GT 5G comes with a 6.43-inch Super AMOLED display and features a Full-HD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz of touch sampling rate which can also be customized according to the user preference.
While it obviously packs a punch on system performance, it’s camera department says otherwise at it includes a pretty standard spec with a triple camera system on the back having a 64 Megapixel main shooter, a 8 Megapixel Ultra Wide and a 2 Megapixel macro. The front camera that sits on a punch hole from the display is a 16 Megapixel shooter and can do just fairly enough for most photos and videos.
It does include an EIS at least for the main sensor and can easily take videos at 4K resolution at 60fps with slo-motion videos at 720p in 480fps.
Feature-wise, the new Realme GT 5G comes with an optical fingerprint scanner on the display and get this, a 3.5mm audio jack which is a rare feature for flagship devices nowadays.
It also features stereo sound with Dolby ATMOS support having a speaker at the bottom and the earpiece on top working as a secondary speaker for its stereo setup.
The new handset runs on Realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11 with the new HyperBoost 4.0 designed for games. keeping the light on is a 4,500mAh battery that supports 65W fast charging through USB-C. It does not include a wireless charging though but we could understand that in a bit.
The Realme GT 5G has three color variants namely: Galactic Silver, Deep Sea Blue, and Dawn Yellow with a leather-like finish and is already available in China.

Realme GT 5G 8GB/128GB (Galactic Silver / Deep Sea Blue) = CNY 2,799 ($430)
Realme GT 5G 12GB/256GB (Galactic Silver / Deep Sea Blue / Dawn Yellow) = CNY 3,299 ($510)
As you can see, the price is as affordable as you can expect coming from Realme and while there are a few missing features for a modern flagship, the price is a huge bargain for that. We think this is just a awesome device and definitely a must buy.
