Panasonic, the company who brought us Lumix cameras and a number of smartphone devices is now making its own hybrid camera/smartphone to compete against Samsung, Nokia and other high-end camera centric device in the mobile market.
The device itself will be marketed under the company’s Lumix brand and will feature Leica focal lens and a full manual control on different camera properties. Also, the Lumix DMC-CM1 is a fully functional Android 4.4 (KitKat) smartphone device that should put itself inline with other premium Android devices in the market today.
The Lumix DMC-CM1 feature a 1-inch of 20 Megapixel sensor similarly found on premium compact cameras and seven times larger than that found on conventional smartphone. The large imaging sensor is coupled with F2.8 Leica lens with an equivalent focal length of 28mm. In addition to the already excellent imaging hardware, the device is also equipped with a manual control for ISO, Focus, White Balance, Aperture and Shutter Speed and a mechanical click-wheel that surrounds the camera lens. The camera inside the upcoming CM1 is also capable of taking 4K video recordings in addition to the hi-resolution imaging that the camera produces.
Inside the new CM1 are components comparable to high-end devices. At the heart is a 2.3GHz Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 2GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage space, it also has a microSD slot that take up to 128 GB microSD cards for users who would demand more storage space than the usual.
As the camera laden side of the handset becomes the front, the back is adorned with the device’s 4.7-inch 1080p full-HD resolution display.
Panasonic haven’t disclose any information on the device availability but when available the Lumix DMC CM1 will cost around 900 Euros in selected key markets by November.
