Oppo F5 gets unveiled in the Philippines, priced at 15,990

Oppo had all the time teasing one of their most anticipated handset which even had celebrities to have the first look of the device before everyone else. Now for customers, the wait and the teasing is over as Oppo finally unveiled the new Oppo F5 Selfie Expert handset.

The new F5 brought new additions to the Selfie-centric series with an All-New display which features an 18:9 Aspect Ratio. It also has a new camera on its sleeve and comes with AI assistance thanks to the new complex algorithms in AI technology, the new F5 handset is said to take the best photos of you no matter the angle, lighting and condition.

The new Oppo F5’s new display takes users to a whole new experience. At 6-inch, the handset comes with a thin bezels and puts the display first on the front with a taller footprint and with an 18:9 Aspect Ratio on a FullHD+ panel. FullHD+ display’s has a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels that translates to around 402 ppi of pixel density. The front is covered by the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 5 that ensures scratch resistance. Having a longer taller display, Oppo had to pull its fingerprint sensor from the front and had them placed on the back.

The Oppo F5 is Oppo’s flagship Selfie device and is identified and the latest Selfie Expert in the series, dethroning the out-going F3 and the F3 Plus. Being a Selfie expert, must be justified and the new F5 will live to that promise with an new software algorithm that relies on Artificial Intelligence to the perfect shot.

It’s newly revamped Beautify software, automatically applies all the necessary settings and filters when taking both Selfies and Landscape photos. With a stepped up improvements in its software, Oppo pairs that to one of its best camera hardware available. On the back, you’ll get a 16 Megapixel camera with an f/1.8 Aperture and is coupled with an LED flash.

But the highlight of the F5 isn’t on the back camera but of course on the front. Given that emphasis, the F5 is equipped with a high density 20 Megapixel camera with a large 1/2.8-inch sensor and an f/2.0 Aperture lens. Apart from the usual Selfies and casual shots, the new F5 also includes Facial Recognition feature that helps unlock the device with your face. But even though the feature is there, Oppo still recommends the use of its fingerprint sensor which is considered more sensitive and secured.

The Oppo F5 is powered by a MediaTek MT6763T chipset with an Octa-core CPU running at 2.5GHz max with a Mali-G71 Graphics processing unit. It is then paired to either a 4GB/32GB or 6GB/64GB of RAM and storage combos and a dedicated microSD slot for storage expansion that sits together with its hybrid multi-card SIM tray.

The handset supports 4G/LTE connectivity with backward compatibility for 2G and 3G wireless connections through its Dual Nano SIM slots. It also supports other connectivity options including: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 and a microUSB port with OTG support. It also have GPS with A-GPS for positioning and navigation.

Finally, the new Oppo F5 handset runs on 3200mAh embedded battery and is driven by ColorOS 3.2 that’s primarily based on Android 7.1 (Nougat).

Inbox colors for the Oppo F5 are as follows: Gold and Black for the 4GB RAM variant while the red color option will ship exclusively for the 6GB version of the handset.

As for the price, the new Oppo F5 will be sold at 15,990 Php SRP and is available for pre-order today until the 3rd of November and will be hitting store shelves by November 4th. Pre-ordered units will also come with a free OLike Speaker worth almost 3,000 Php and that’s a good deal if you ask us.
