Together with the unveiling of the two new OnePlus 9 flagship devices, the company is also bringing out a third model in the series as the OnePlus 9R. But the device seems to be exclusive for the Indian market where OnePlus have poured so much attention in recent years.

So what makes the new OnePlus 9R different from the rest of the lineup? As far as the specs sheet is concerned, the new handset sounds more like a little improvement to the OnePlus 8T as they actually share the same feature if not for one, the CPU.

The OnePlus 9R uses the newly labelled Snapdragon 870 chipset which by now, we all know is a refined version of the SD865+. The new processor comes with a few tweaks than made it rev more performance including its efficiency.

The rest of the specs are on par with both the out going OnePlus 8T and the OnePlus 9R including its 6.55-inch Fluid AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rates and HDR10+ support. Protecting the display is a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 which should be able to withstand short drops and scratches.

The device includes two configurations to choose from: 8GB/128GB or 12GB/256GB of of RAM and storage combos. It also runs on Adreno 650 graphics which is made available as part of its chipset and the battery is rated at 4,500mAh that supports Warp Charge 65 fast charging.

For imaging, the OnePlus 9R gets its equipment straight from the OnePlus 8T including the 48 Megapixel primary sensor an IMX586 from Sony with OIS. There’s also a 16 Megapixel with Ultra Wide lens, a 5 Megapixel macro and a 2 Megapixel monochrome sensor. These setup takes 4K video recording at up to 60fps and full-HD slow-mo at 240fps and 480fps in 720p. While that’s on the back, the front is equipped with a single 16 Megapixel Selfie camera with EIS.

Feature-wise, the new OnePlus 9R has included stereo speakers with Dolby ATMOS support, There’s also an In-display fingerprint sensor and a Dual nano-SIM slot that supports 5G connection. You’d also get the OnePlus Alert Slider feature which helps you silence your phone at you need it.

The new OnePlus 9R is set to hit India’s store shelves on the second week of April at a price of INR 40,000 for the 8GB/128GB variant and INR 44,000 for the 12GB/256GB version in Lake Blue and Carbon Black color options.
