OnePlus: Expect Android O for the OnePlus 3 and 3T within this year

With the OnePlus 5 now as the main focus, it’s really and undeniably hard to argue that previous generation device owners wants to know the fate of their existing OnePlus handset. In line with the recent OnePlus AMA or “ask me anything” program on Reddit, one question was raised about the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T’s Android O update.
According to OnePlus, the company will be releasing the Android O update for these devices within this year. For users of these concerned handsets is a good news indeed. Despite the handset being discontinued in favor of the new model, one thing that users would feel the benefits of a flagship device is the extended support from manufacturers which if OnePlus holds to its promise, is a positive sign for the loyalty of customers toward the brand and the company itself.
But for the really of things, current flagship the OnePlus 5 is expected to get the Android O upgrade first as soon as the Official software goes out to the public and that the OnePlus 3 and 3T updates would come out soon after.
Despite the anticipated update, Google haven’t even release the operating system officially and that the “O” codename itself hasn’t been officially named yet, while users and experts are divided for the possible name that Google would call the next version of Android. Early speculations suggests that “O” could stand for “Oreo” but recent developments says “Android Oatmeal Cookie” will be most likely.
But who knows, Google might use a well-known name for the OS or it would settle for the Oatmeal Cookie instead which is a little too long to remember. But it should be more clears in the next few months as Google would finally unveil the final name of their next version of Android together with the announcement of rumored Google Pixel 2 devices later this year.
