Number of active COVID-19 cases in the Philippines is now at 10,123

DOH released COVID-19 CASE BULLETIN #72 at 16:00H (4:00PM PST) on May 25, 2020.

The Department of Health reports 284 new COVID-19 cases in the Philippines which brings us to 14,319 total number of cases recorded. 5 new Deaths were also reported and that brings our death toll to 873.

The number of recoveries have declined recently and that continued today with 74 new recoveries reported. The number of recoveries from COVID-19 in the country is now at 3,323.

From these numbers, the Philippines has 10,123 active infections and they don’t seem to wind down anytime soon. The number of cases reported are mainly from the NCR which account 60% of cases, and second from Region 7 with 25% while the remaining 15% of cases are coming from different regions in the country.

COVID-19 was declared by World Health Organization (WHO) as a Pandemic on March 03, 2020 which started in Wuhan, China. The disease is caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome – coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV2) with a Flu like symptoms such as Fever, Cough, Colds and in more severe cases Difficulty in Breathing.

There are no vaccines or direct cure for the disease as of this writing and the only way to protect ourselves from getting infected is to practise proper and frequent handwashing, avoid touching our face, mouth, nose and eyes. Our health experts as well as the government urged everyone to wear a suitable and effective face mask as much as possible and when outside of our homes.
