Nothing Phone (3) Redefines Smartphone Design with Bold New Glyph Matrix

After the huge hype surrounding the Nothing Phone (3), the device has finally been officially unveiled, bringing with it a radical redesign unlike anything we’ve seen in a smartphone since its inception. The iconic Glyph interface, which Nothing Phones have become known for, has now evolved into the Glyph Matrix—a monochrome LED display located at the top-right corner of the phone’s back.

This new design language introduces a completely different approach to notifications. The dot-matrix-style interface is composed of 489 LEDs that display incoming alerts for calls, messages, and app notifications, along with animated system status indicators.

With the Glyph Matrix, Nothing introduces new customization features through Glyph Toys. These include interactive elements such as a clock, battery indicator, sound volume display, Glyph Mirror, and even mini-games. These features can be accessed and controlled via a dedicated Glyph button.

The rest of the Phone (3)’s back panel continues the brand’s asymmetrical aesthetic, which now looks even more refined than previous versions. While this is subjective, we believe the design is more attractive than ever.

The rear cameras receive a significant upgrade over its predecessor. The Phone 3 is equipped with three 50MP sensors. The primary camera features a 1/1.3″ sensor with Optical Image Stabilization. The second is a 114-degree ultra-wide lens, while the newly added third sensor is a 70mm equivalent 50MP periscope lens offering 3x optical zoom and a telemacro feature, enabling shots as close as 10cm.

On the front, the Nothing Phone (3) sports a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution, 10-bit color depth, and support for over 1 billion colors. It boasts a 120Hz refresh rate, 1000Hz touch sampling, and a peak brightness of up to 4000 nits, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. The display includes a punch-hole cutout for the 50MP selfie camera and an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Powering the Phone (3) is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, paired with either 12GB or 16GB of RAM, and storage options of 256GB or 512GB. It runs Nothing OS 3.5, based on Android 15, with Nothing confirming that OS 4.0, based on Android 16, is coming in the next few months. The company also promises up to 5 years of Android updates and 7 years of security updates.

The device packs a 5,150mAh Silicon Carbon Li-ion battery, supporting 65W wired charging, 15W wireless charging, and reverse charging at 5W (wired) and 7.5W (wireless). For the first time, Nothing is also introducing an IP68 water and dust resistance rating.

The Nothing Phone (3) will be available in two color variants: Black and White. Pricing starts at $799 for the 12GB/256GB model, and $899 for the 16GB/512GB version. Pre-orders begin July 4, with full availability in stores and online starting July 15.
