Nokia 130 announced, a €19 handset with multimedia playback support
Who says featurephones on Nokia/Microsoft camp has ended ? It seems that Microsoft can’t even let go of what Nokia mobile devices stand out from the rest. It’s hard to let go of the things that kept Nokia alive in this Smartphone era. Microsoft announced its latest featurephone the Nokia 130. A monoblock handset which features the very basic functions of a mobile phone with support on various multimedia contents.
The Nokia 130 features a a 1.8-inch QQVGA display (160 x 128) display, a physical key mat and a LED torchlight on the back which could be mistaken as a camera on the back until you get closer. The small 1.8-inch screen supports video playback with built-in video player, a music player and FM Radio tuner. It also support microSD cards, share multimedia contents through microSD cards or via Bluetooth.
Nokia 130 comes in Single SIM and Dual SIM mini SIM variants so switching between SIMs is as easy as a few key presses instead of having to turn off the device, remove SIM and insert another SIM procedure.
Without the power-hungry features that most smartphones have, the Nokia 130 is able to last for up to 36 days and 26 days standby time for Single and Dual SIM variants respectively. Playing music with the handset from a full charged battery would give at least 46 hours of continuous playback or watch movies from microSD cards of up to 16 hours non-stop. That could be achieved by the BL-5C 1020mAh battery
The Nokia 130 runs a proprietary Nokia OS Series 30+, it weighs just 69 grams with a dimension of 106 x 45.5 x 13.9mm. Priced at a very affordable €19 or not more than 1K here in the Philippines. When released, the Nokia 130 with be available in Black, White and Red and will hit retail stores with the current quarter.
