Nikon introduces its first action camera with KeyMission 360

Take photos and videos around you in 360-degrees

 The market for action cams lately have stagnated with GoPro as the reigning king of the hill while other brands tailed behind. Most of these camera devices are revolving around the same set of specs that has been around for sometime already, most of which are a year older or more since the last hardware and software updates. This year’s CES however, action cameras might run into a complete evolution and if you think the king will be leading the way, well this time it isn’t.

Nikon haven’t even touch the action cam market in the past while focusing a great momentum in its DSLR space, but company’s need to keep the innovations company to keep up with time and with that, Nikon is finally introducing its first action camera the Keymission 360. Unlike most of action cameras in the market today, the Nikon KeyMission 360 takes photos and videos in 360-degree angle, something that isn’t the norms of today. Only a few of manufacturers that we’ve known of today to have this feature and one of which is the RICOH Theta S, while the camera itself were great at taking 360-degree photos, it’s rather behind in video quality.

The Nikon Keymission 360 however refined the technology and provides a better quality photos and videos captured in 360-degrees. The perspective that 360-degree angle camera are making today is a step forward to a whole new shooting experience.

The new Nikon KeyMission 360 is also one of the few action cameras in the market that takes 4K videos with its dual-lens system. Not something of a surprise of such a device, the action cam is housed in a ruggedized chassis is shockproof of up to 2 meters of fall, waterproof of up to 30 meters underwater, dust and extreme temperature proof which is undoubtedly built for extreme situations and adventures and can be strapped at about anything.

There hasn’t been really a well-defined market for 360 cams as of the moment, but market analysts are see a steady growth of interest about these features on action cameras. Hardware may not be as much as the traditional action cams of today but video playback viewers captured from these devices are gaining grounds. more so, Youtube and Facebook now allows us to watch 360-degree videos directly from their websites, users will then catch up with the trend and like all other imaging technologies that came beforehand, 360-degree angle videos will then become a regularly featured videos on the internet in no time.
