Street Fighter fans may had enough of Live Action when an attempted live-action of the same title hit theaters a long time ago (Something that we wished to forget… Really) but recent developments on the franchise seems to blossom back with an attempt to relived the action based on the fighting game series as a web series.
Many fans may not have seen them but the Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist looks to be the most beloved series in the franchise, not only that it tackles the way of each character and their persona. They also made it to the point where each character portrayed in the series nods what these fighters are when one would play them in their favorite Street Fighter game titles. From the costumes and right through the action, fans would know that they are Ken, Ryu, Gouken or Akuma, not just because of their looks but also the way they moved.
The TV series that’s in the works are said to spout from that idea with Capcom’s Street Fighter executive producer Yoshinori Ono and the team behind the “Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist” web series are partnering with Mark Gordon eOne’s President and Chief Content Officer, Film, Television and Digital to bring the series adorable and delightful characters from the Street Fighter franchise to more audiences.
From what it’s known so far, the TV series will be based on the story in Street Fighter II game where Ryu, Ken and Chun Li goes after M. Bison and went to be in a World Warrior fighting tournament. Probably when it comes to back stories of these characters, it seems important to watch the web series first before we indulge with the events to happen in the TV series so that we could understand each characters purpose in the story.
