Samsung will unveil the new Galaxy Note 5 at the company’s UNPacked event which takes place in New York next week. But before Samsung could unveil the new phablet, the device has already posed for quite a few takes which are then shared over the internet. From leaked specs, renders and live photos, it seems like the handset has already become a public figure even before announcement. Our latest leak in this series are the new photos of the handset running and handled in the wild. Thanks to DroidLife and their sources that we now have a well established knowledge as to what we’ll expect by August 13.
Aside from these lovely photos of the Galaxy Note 5 on hand, sources also shared some worth noting features that the Galaxy Note 5 would include. Like the Galaxy S6, the new Galaxy Note 5 is designed to match the Galaxy S6 design language including its build. It also features the same metallic frame and glass panels but both flagship devices will differ slightly on how the back is constructed. Instead of a curved front like the Galaxy S6 edge, the Galaxy Note 5 will have its curvatures on the back which is said to be much easier to hold.
The front panel is more likely to be the same 5.7-inch sAMOLED display with vibrant colors from its predecessor with a very thin bezels. The Home button is not much mentioned in the latest rumors but we are also expecting to include a fingerprint sensor which is more convenient rather than having them on the back. Looking towards the bottom is the Galaxy Note’s S Pen which is said to be spring-loaded. The USB port isn’t the rumored type-C port but a regular micro-USB port. The bottom of the handset also houses the single loudspeaker grill and the 3.5mm audio jack.
On hardware, the Galaxy Note 5 comes will have the latest technologies that Samsung could offer in the mobile market and as what rumors put it, the Galaxy Note 5 will include a much improved Exynos 7422 SoC which is an improvement over the 7420 of the Galaxy S6/S6 edge. Source also mentioned that the phablet comes with 4 GB of RAM to complete its processing arsenal. That that we know about the goodies, next would be the limitations that the new Galaxy Note 5 is facing. Ss what we’ve already known recently and it was really unfortunate in some ways that some of us were disappointed when rumors has it that the upcoming flagship will pretty much follow the fate of the Galaxy S6 of having a non-removable battery plus Samsung has included a smaller 3000 mAh battery that further escalates the woes. Another thing would be the absence of the long-standing and most beloved feature in the phablet; the micro-SD card slot. With no other way to expand the local storage space, Galaxy Note 5 users will have to choose between the different storage variants of the Galaxy Note 5 which will include 32 GB, 64 GB or the 128 GB variant. Samsung will also include a free cloud storage for the Galaxy Note 5 for sure but for some areas where internet connectivity isn’t that accessible, it wouldn’t be practical to have your contents saved online.
Software features for the Note series is what drives Note users to get the device. Some of which are exclusive to the handset as it is the only phablet in the world to include such accessory as the S Pen. And as the S Pen becomes more usable in each iteration of the phablet, Samsung also improved the software features for the pen with new capabilities and being more responsive that its predecessors. Like the first picture above, the new Galaxy Note 5 has an improved Air Command with a customizable menu. The Galaxy Note 5 phablet will be running on the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop with TouchWiz UI on top, so expect more improvements and addition in software features with the Galaxy Note 5.
