Rumors now goes online telling that Xiaomi is preparing to unveil the successor to the Redmi Pro, the Redmi Pro 2 was mentioned here about a month ago which was said to supposedly come with Snapdragon 660 chipset and a single camera on the back. That there sounds a little not so Pro about the successor though the chipset was thought to be the better choice, it seems like an off direction from where Redmi Pro line supposedly is heading.
But some new reports from China says otherwise, while it stays true to past rumors that the handset will be coming out by the end of this month, spec-wise however seems to claim a little if not a major improvements on the current Redmi Pro handset and contradicts everything that previous rumors had. With the new leaked and expected specs of the Redmi Pro 2, the handset will stick to the roots with the same dual camera setup on the back but this time with a couple of 12 Megapixel sensors on each lenses.
Another contradicting thing about these rumors is that the latest tells us that Xiaomi will instead us a MediaTek Helio P25 on the Redmi Pro 2. That will hold off wishers that were interested with the handset running on a Qualcomm chipset. We all know by the way that Qualcomm’s are good overall performers compared with MediaTek’s despite the less number of cores from the former.
Like the current Redmi Pro though, the Redmi Pro still rocks an all-metal build with 2.5D glass on the front. RAM on the other hands takes an upgrade with its base models to be fitted with 4GB of RAM while its top end model will sport 6GB of RAM. storage-wise, these variants will come with 64GB and 128GB of storage space respectively and hopefully will continue to support microSD cards for memory expansion.
The handset it yet to be announced by the end of the month as the rumor goes, though Xiaomi haven’t talked anything at all about the Redmi Pro 2’s existence, our recent rumors even includes the pricing of the handset which might just as affordable as the current Redmi Pro handsets. For the 4GB RAM variant the price is expected at around CNY 1,599 or $231 while the handset’s 6GB RAM variant will go around CNY 1,799 or roughly $260.
