Microsoft to remove old Edge browser on Windows PC this April 13
The Microsoft Edge browser is the company’s own Web browser that shipped with Windows 10. While this version of Edge is based on Microsoft’s own EdgeHTML rendering engine, the company has since replaced that with the new Edge Browser that is based on Google’s Chromium software back in 2019.
Microsoft now puts the old Edge browser into Legacy mode and had announced last year that it’s ending support for the old browser on March 9, 2021. This coming April 13, the company will release a cumulative monthly security patch to finally remove the legacy version of Edge in Windows 10 computers and install the new Chromium-based Edge browser.
If you’ve since moved to the new Edge browser, this upcoming update shouldn’t be noticeable as it will only remove the old one.
